Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

Oct 2, 2021 at 9:42 AM Post #6,256 of 6,446
Hello all!, I came across the forum when looking for info on the MO. I've just got one. It was on V2.1 when I received it. I played around with it for a bit and realised I had to upgrade the firmware...now on V3.6
All seems good but I can't seem to do a few things.
Is the advanced manual linked to at the start of the thread up to date for V3.6?

Shanling M0 Firmware V3.6 Update!

It’s been a while since last update to M0, but it’s finally here, putting M0 in line with the rest of our MTouch players.

Full notes and download link at our website: https://en.shanling.com/article-M0V36.html

It's been a while since I've tried the SyncLink feature of the Shanling Music Player app, with my M0.
I'm not sure whether the Bluetooth disconnecting frequently is due to some sort of timeout on the M0 or my LG V35 phone.
.
If you're using SyncLink, do you have any issues with the Bluetooth disconnecting?

How will I know if it's disconnected? Will playback on the M0 stop? Will It ask to re-pair on the first screen/Synclink. Or do I just tell from the now playing, I'm assuming the current track wont be highlighted???
I'm using the SyncLink for the first time today and so far it seems to be fine after 30mins. I'm using a Motorola (G8) power on Android 11 (but no BT codecs execept SBC :( :( hence why I've got the M0) going to some old Shure wired in ear phones. I'll try it whilst out on a walk later with the M0 in a small zipped case in my pocket and my Android phone in my hand. I'll be using Sony WXM10004s over BT.

Hello community, I am having problems to connect M0 to the Samsung Galaxy Buds2, sometimes it uses AAC codec and other times it does not show the codec. In both cases it is heard as if it disconnects and reconnects. Do you know what may be happening? Tranks!

On my phone, the Bluetooth icon in the Status Bar is white when connected, and gray when disconnected - so I can tell at a glance if the SyncLink BT connection is on or off.
.
I've noticed a difference between how my rooted LG V30 and stock LG V35 work for Volume Control. It seems like the volume buttons work when the V30 screen is off, but I have to login to the V35 before I can use the volume buttons.

I went for a 2 hour walk yesterday. Every time I looked at my phone the SyncLink was still active as I could see what track was playing and the track position was moving. The only time it disconnected was when I had reached the end of my playlist and the player stopped. I didn't choose a new track and I'm assuming the auto standby has kicked in. This was with wired headphones in to the M0. The weather is better today so I'll try with my BT Sony's. So far it looks like it's working as it should.

BTW: I'm using the Shanling Player to SyncLink, I've just seen on the website it mentions to download the "Eddict Player" what's the difference?

My Moto G8 Power is stock and you have to open the Shanling player app on the phone to alter volume. Volume doesn't work from lock screen.

Does the playlist file (created externally) have to be in the same folder as the tracks on the playlist? I can only get a playlist to work if the playlist is in the same folder as the tracks on the playlist.

Any ideas why my embedded lyrics are not showing under the Lyrics screen

Second question first - I believe that the Lyrics function on the Shanling players work by reading a .LRC file with the same name as the music track, rather than extracting the lyrics from the meta-data (tags) in the music track.

For playlists - you need to make sure the actual paths in the Playlist file are pointing to the tracks you want to play - knowing that the Shanling players are using embedded Linux, and not Windows file paths.
There are several types of path formats supported in playlists - absolute and relative paths.
Absolute paths use the root level file structure - which is different on Windows (C:\), and Linux or Mac (/).
A relative path doesn't reference the drive type or root level file structure - it is relative to where the Playlist file is stored.

I seem to remember it being told that their phasing out the Shanling Player in favour of Eddict Player. Shame since I prefer the user interface on the Shanling Player

Can somebody please confirm?

If you open the Google Play Store app descriptions side-by-side, you'll see that they're very similar - and that the Eddict Player has some additional features.
.
It is odd that they chose to create a new, nearly the same, player - rather than just updating the Shanling Music Player app with the new features.

OK, I'll try out the Eddict player once I've got fully to grips with the MO.

I've just tried to set up the M0 with Synclink and the M0 sending out BT to my Sony BT Headphones. I'm sure I had this working yesterday?
Can I do this with the M0?
The trouble I'm having is pairing the BT from the Phone to the MO, it seems to be either/or. I can't get the BT headphones to speak to the M0 at the same time as the MO receiving BT (Synclink) from the phone?
Is there a special order or trick? I could swear I had it working yesterday, but happy to be corrected????

I managed to connect by setting the M0 to AptX, but the audio quality is poor... distortions, clicks and cuts are heard. Anyone have any info? thanks in advance

No, the manual was not updated since release.
If you have any questions, you can ask them here, over PM or email.

Not seeing any issues with disconnecting. Also I would recommend to use Eddict player from now on, as only that app is receiving further updates.

Please what firmware are you running on your M0?

If you are accessing playlist from folder browsing mode, it doesn't need to be in any set folder. But you need to be sure your path structure is correct for it current location.

Our system doesn't support embedded lyrics, only .lrc files.

We switched to Eddict player, as it serves as companion app across multiple brands, not only Shanling.

Eddict player will be the main app going forward, receiving further development and updates. Shanling Music app will be discontinued.

It's not possible to use BT headphones and synclink and the same time.
