Your link only mentions transcoding between different lossy codecs and transcoding to a lower bitrate on ogg, not AAC to AAC. I'm very open to the idea of me being wrong tho. It was a while ago that I stumbled across that piece of info and I can't be bothered to dig it up right now (I think it was somewhere in HydrogenAudio as well actually, lol). And yes, the AAC rabbit hole I was sucked into back then was apple shaped. Android is a whole other can of worms!

Safer to have lossless sources for BT, agreed.
Why would it be different for AAC? My hydrogenaudio times have also long passed but lossy is lossy, no? So you'll introduce artifacts again, if you will be able to tell a difference will be a different story. Still I try to keep everything lossless as space is no longer an issue even with microsd cards for the m0. And I found https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php?topic=104567.0 which seems to confirm

hi, my screen is broken. I go running with my M0, it fell and i wallked on it... it still working. But I just would like to know whether it's possible to change the glass on the top of the screen, the screen is okay.
It's possible to buy replacement front panel / screen. Not possible to replace just the glass.

can I use this as a bluetooth receiver to a dac/amp?
connect it to something like ifi hipdac ?
Yes, M0 can be used like this.
We use iFi iDSD Black in our office and it works fine with M0. I would hope hipdac will be the same.
Once the m0 has received the bt signal, it can only output an analog signal. You could send that analog signal to an outboard amplifier, but not to a dac, which will only convert a digital signal. It is nonsensical to send an analog signal to a dac.
Not correct. M0 receives just the digital data, it can easily output it through the USB output to external USB DAC.

I stand corrected (again.) Forgot about the usb out.

Are you connecting the M0 to some normal USB ports that are made for charging or to some special USB input port for car stereo?
M0 in-vehicle mode is just to affect way how it charges, it doesn't make it compatible with USB inputs of car stereos, you still need to connect it using analog connection or Bluetooth.

Anyone here have the wheel get stuck on the M0?

It will not turn on unless I connect to a power source, AND reset as well. if I only connect to a power source it just turns off. I can spin the volume up or down just fine. pressing the wheel in does nothing. Very frustrating.

If you are unable to press the wheel, mostly likely the inner button is broken of.

If your M0 is under warranty, please contact your seller. If it's out of warranty, this would be more tricky and would say to PM me for further discussion.

What exaclty does the AB repeat do?
Pick a spot in the music file. Call that A. Pick another later spot in the file. Call that B. Play from spot A to spot B, repeatedly until stopped.

About the only time I've ever used something like that is when trying to determine what the lyrics were. And that was pretty much before the internet and just searching for the lyrics 😜

Hi folks,
I bought the M0 roughly 2 years ago and it worked like a charm. Then I didn't use it for 3 or 4 weeks and once I wanted to turn it on again it stopped interacting at all, black screen only. Sometimes when turning it on it shows a white screen, but nothing more. It doesnt make a difference whether an SD card is inserted or not, the reset button didn't change anything as well.
Does anyone have a hint if the device is recoverable?

Cheers,
rhalina

I'm guessing it's a battery issue. I'm on my third M0, the last two died from a swollen and a leaking battery.

The device is perfect for me but I think they are using very low quality batteries.

I agree. My M0's battery has been barely scraping past 4 hours of playback for almost a year now. Never abused, over charged, dropped etc. It's a shame such a shoddy battery was used in it. Shanling should offer free battery replacements for a detect that occurred within months of warranty expiry.
