I also installed 2.0 firmware without problem.
LDAC works flawless.

Hi Mike did you open the file on your desktop? I had to download and then open before finding the update.bin file.
Thanks. I just tried again with a fresh download to desktop and then trying to unpack with RAR Opener.
Message:
"Error opening the archive (check available disk space, that you have a valid password, or that the archive is not damaged or partial)"

So, not a storage issue on laptop (or micro SD) and on my computer, so not a password issue.

Thanks.
I searched up RAR and realized this is like ZIP.
I was connected to a work computer that I couldn't put new programs on.
Switched to my MS Surface Book Win OS 10 and downloaded RAR Opener.
I tried to unpack on the micro SD card and got an error message.
I re-downloaded from the Google link and still got the error:
"Error opening the archive (check available disk space, that you have a valid password, or that the archive is not damaged or partial)"

Will keep playing with it.

Mike
Cool, hope it works it was a little distracting as my SS card is exfat not fat32 and Android doesn't like exfat or NTFS formatting. Lol

OK, so having updated my woefully out-of-date copy of Free UnRar to the latest version, I can now unpack the 2.0 firmware just fine.

Having tracked down a FAT32 mSD card, the update went smoothly.

My music card is a 256GB one from Sandisk and is formatted as exFAT and this is working just fine.

I am starting to get used to the swiping but it still seems particularly tricky on the now playing screen.

You need to be careful where you swipe in the settings as you can change the settings instead. At least I think that's what happened or maybe the firmware update changed my USB mode to DAC so that my PC complained when I attached it. Had me scratching my head for a few moments as I distinctly remembered changing it to USB.

My previous comments about the EQ stand (EQ presets as designed by an 8 year old - perhaps kids will love them).

EQ not withstanding, I am impressed with the sound quality of this little DAP. Sounds great with iBasso IT01, Beyerdynamic T5p, Audeze LCD-X...

OK so it doesn't threaten the desktop system, but for a £99 DAP - amazing. It really does little to nothing wrong. It can rock too. I've got Pendulum belting out of the T5p as I write this. Very impressive.

Please, please give us some sensible EQ options Shanling.

Waiting impatiently for the clip case. This little wonder is the new 'Clip+' and no mistake.

My card is exFAT.
Music was working on it, so I didn't think about it.
I guess I need to find another card or transfer music off it and reformat.
Thanks for troubleshooting.
Will try something.

Although doesn't explain error unpacking it to desktop?

So the way I did it was to download a fresh file directly tot he Android device. Then unpack the file and upload the update.bin file to Google drive. Then I used my Chromebook to transfer from Google drive to the memory card I used on my M0. Then ran the update on the M0 and it worked.

Try switching the Chromebook and Google drive for your surface and any cloud service respectively. I troubleshoot random IT problems on mobile devices all the time and this is something I've had to do in the past. I can't explain why the file won't unpack on your surface or Android device (minus using the RAR app) but I can tell you if you're like me you want to get it working no matter how stupid the process is. Lol

I actually bought the FiiO F9 Pro to use with my Shanling M0....I like this combo. Also tested with Bose QC35 II Bluetooth...the sound also amazing...this tiny DAP is amazing....wow☺️

Music transferred off card.
My only Win 10 OS based format options are exFAT (Default) or NTFS.
I don't see a way to format micro SD from the M0 in System.
Another format program?

Just search for FAT32Format.

Maybe your card is too big? FAT32 was designed for smaller capacity storage, and you can't make a single FAT32 partition larger than 32 GB in Windows. FAT32 supports up to 2TB, I believe, but Windows won't let you do that with their default tools because they want you to use a more modern format.

Got my M0 yesterday.

I'm very surprised this little device has such decent/good ouput.

Paired it up with my ie800 and W80 and they both sounded great. Seems like mids are a bit smooth out compared to my V30 and WM1A though. Clarity isn't there yet...and bass very punchy.

Not bad for $99 :)

Hmm.
I have a 256 GB card.
I transferred all the music off and I am (slowly) formatting with Windows command line format /FS:FAST32 D:
If:
- only 32 GB available, that woudn't be good
- if above, then how do you upload new firmware? Exchange exFAT music >32 GB (eg what everyone has) mSD with a different FAT32 formatted mSD?

Why not make DAPs that work with the newer (eg modern) exFAT file system.
I'm sure I'm missing something, but this seems very tedious.

Mike

EDIT: After a long wait got message "The volume is too big for FAT32. Format failed."
Ugh.
8 GB mSD ordered for this purpose.

I guess this is one downside of a DAP without internal RAM for FW updates directly.

I don't have the M0 (yet :) ), so no hands on experience... but yeah, me, I keep an old 8GB mSD card formatted in FAT32 specifically for FW updates etc.

And if you happen to have a Mac computer lying around, I always had better luck in formatting SD/mSD cards in FAT32 on the MAC - I never managed to make the GUIFormat program actually work, on Windows (but lots of other people swear by it, so it's probably just me - but if you have a Mac available, that ALWAYS worked immediately, for me)
