Hi guys,
 
Sennheiser is going to announce two new headphones at the IFA2010 here in Berlin,
the HD558 and HD598. As they are going to officially introduce them it the IFA, there is little to nothing known about them at the moment.
Judging from the number it's supposed to be the middle class, but that's just an educated guess...
 
However, Sennheiser is going to give a couple of these to users of the German Hifi-Forum.de before the official release date for a "pre-test". So as soon as there is any more information and/or pics available, I'll give you an update!
 
As I am also on the list for the pre-test, I have arranged that I receive the headphones in time for the European head-fi / Hifi-Forum meet so they will be there and can be heard. Guess we're going to have quite a few first hand experiences by the mid of September through the IFA an the meet.
 
Side note: I will also cover these in my short annual IFA report, of course.

well.  it looks like the HD800 has taught sennheiser something.
like, taking the time to insert an "8" into their mid-range headphone line.
now, each 555 and 595 will contain a subtle hint at the goodness of the HD800. 

 
(and, besides, the chinese should love it.)

Yeah, but for some reason, "Skullcandy" immediately came to mind. I think I might have seen a pair by them with a similar coloring scheme.

Wow, I love the look of the 598
I was looking at purchasing a pair of HD650s. but if there is a future replacement in the near future,
I might hold off. Any news of a replacement/upgrade to the HD650s?

Well, the HD650s have already been replaced by the HD800s as Sennheiser's flagship.

for hundreds of $ more. I was thinking maybe Sennheiser will come out with another mid priced
headphone $500-650.

I hope Sennheiser refreshes the HD-650. Probably not this year, though, since all the current introductions are for the 2010 holidays.
