I would like to add my personal experience with the HD238. I have had these for about 3 weeks now. Bought them at Best Buy for $69.95. When you first get them of course they may not sound that good so don't go off saying that , "man these suck!". You have to give them time with the "burn in" .
I hooked them up to my IMAC and let it play a variety of music from soundtracks, classical,Spanish ,Rock etc for about 10 hours + and you immediately tell a great difference. Even better when you have more than 24 hours. Also , then hooked up my Mz-m200 MD player to it to assist in the burn in process.
The Sound is Superb for headphones of this class. I had the PX100 before and they were good but this one is just in a whole new different class and the sound is RICH and very IMPRESSIVE . it even gives life to the Ipod/Iphone.
The sound will then ROCK as soon I hook it up to a portable MD player (Mz-m200). I am in heaven with that combo. I went back to experiencing music all over again and in a more glorified sense and whats great is that , if you do not have $150.00 (US) or more to spend on good sounding quality headphones, these Sennheisers will fit just well!
In my book, they deliver Exceptionally Excellent sound for a reasonable Price. They sound way much better than the Sony NC-60's that I sold. They were good for noise cancellation but , being closed , it just didn't sound to good to me.
the build quality is reasonable but they are not all shabby and seen worse ones even at higher prices. The Plastics are of high grade or at least that it the feel and impression I get. They are also very Comfortable and I wear glasses. This could be different for others but I have no problem.
