Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 and Wireless!

1 I feel is kinda irrelevant because they're really not that big. They're still plenty portable, we're not talking big Audeze cans.

2 I honestly don't know what you mean, the hinges aren't going to create problems.

3 Can't say anything about this, mine are okay?

4 The cable shouldn't make a huge difference, you can always get spares.

5 This is a valid point. Money is a big thing, and if the M2 isn't worth double the price, then that's that. No one can tell you that you "should" spend more. :)

I am tempted to go for the 1.0s.... I already had them and yes the confort is bit ****ty but they sound and they built to the standards of awesomeness...

I truly believe that the 2.0s are awesome in terms of confort but there are a couple of things that bug me already despite never having tried them....

1. They are bigger
2. On the long ron hingea means problems
3.they used that metalic paint finish on the ring (after the pads) and from a couple of first gen on ear momentum i saw (they have the same glossy metalic finish ring) and ot seems to wear out after a while and it shows the whitr plastic underneath (the first gen over ear have all matte cups).
4. The 2.0s only have one cable and the ios cable on the first version kicked ass. Also the case on the 1.0s was awesome.
5. Last but no least.... As i said i can get the 1.0s for 100 euros while the best price i can get for a used (like new) 2.0 is 200 euros..... I think the disconfort is woth saving 100 euros, specially if the sound is basically the same...

Many of my arguments are based only on photos and experience with other headphones.... I only tried the 1.0s as i said before.... But still i think i have some valid point here...

What do you guys think?

If you're getting corded, yeah get the 1.0 if your 100 euros is that important to you. But if you're talking about wireless, they are amazing and worth every penny.

Actually the wired 2.0 sound even better than the 2.0 Wireless version does when wired. I really did not like the loose bass and rolled off treble of the 1.0 version. I did not recommend the 1.0 and in fact t could not understand their popularity. If you can't afford the wireless 2.0 I would at least get the 2.0 wired version. Comfort is also greatly improved over 1.0. The 2.0 are said to have the same drivers as the 1.0 but they are clear tuned differently. The addition of a deeper earcup also provides a better treble experience and Soundstage.

These are the best wireless noise canceling cans out there. The only cans that surpass these in terms of the noise canceling is the bose qc25 which I also have. These are better than the zik 2.0 and Mdr-1abt in sound quality. You can also use the captune app to customize the sound.

Do these have sidetone when speaking on a phone call with the iPhone?

Sidetone is when one hears themselves is the earpiece typical of a landline's handset. It is also present in Apple's earbuds.

If it does have sidetone;
Does it work in wireless mode?
Is their discordant latency, or is it OK?

1. Is it true that one cannot turn-off noise cancelation in wireless mode?

2. Can noise-cancelation be turned off when used in wired mode?

(I experience with the Bose noise cancelation creates an uncomfortable pressure in my eardrums.)

No you can't turn the noise cancellation in wireless mode. No uncomfortable pressure like the qc25. I have both.
I haven't tried in wired mode. I'll update come time on that.

There are basically 4 modes that you can listen to the headphones in.
  1. Wireless - When power is turned on BT is activated, and the ANC is always on. It cannot be turned off while in this mode.
  2. Wired passive - The wire is hooked up from the headphone to the DAP/amp/etc. In this mode, power is turned off, and so too is the ANC circuit.
  3. Wired active - Same as wired passive, except that power is on. The BT circuit will not work in this mode, but ANC is always on.
  4. USB - You can listen to music while you charge your headphones. In this mode you must have power on to listen and not just charge (they will still charge whether power is on or off). This means that ANC is always on.

So, basically any time you have power on, on the headphones, you will also have ANC. I find that there is little to no pressure from the ANC, unlike the QC15 (don't have any experience with the QC25) that has some pressure. Hope this helps. Another thing to note (IMO) is that the ANC circuit does not adversely effect the sound quality at all like on most other ANC headphones.

If you are looking for wireless headphones without noise cancellation, B&W P5 Wireless sounds much better than Momentum Wireless Over-Ear to my ears in comparison. Momentum Wireless just has overly bassy and muddy sound, at least when sourcing them from iPhone that has no Aptx. Momentum probably benefits a lot from better source, but if you're going to mainly use headphones out of your phone wirelessly, then I'd give some serious consideration to P5 Wireless instead.

To answer your questions that also has been previously answered:
1. Yes.
2. ANC can be turned off when listening with a headphone cable.

On the Sennheiser website they have these at a price of $499.99 USD. But, when I look for them on Amazon, I see them at a price of $399.99. Are the models being sold on Amazon the exact same thing that is being sold for $100 more on the Sennheiser (and other retailer) sites???

I like my Momentum 1.0's, except for the small ear pads, and was looking forward to getting a new wireless pair- but had a tough time with the $500 price tag. If I can pick them up for $400, it might be worth it.

camelcamelcamel.com shows that the around-ear Momentum 2.0 Bluetooth wireless has momentarily dropped to as low as $300.50 (in ivory). I bought mine from Amazon at $324, and they are perfect, new, and flawless. Go for it!
