I’m back!!!!!
After getting sucked into the IE600 Hype upon their release, I ended up selling my original day 1 purchased IE900 and have been very happy with the IE600. In recent weeks though, I kept remembering how addictive and unique the IE900s were, especially the imaging and stage.
They arrived today and after listening for a few hours I can now say, without doubt, they are superior in every single way to the IE600, at least to my ears and my preferences.
Don’t get me wrong, the IE600 aren’t going anywhere and are also outstanding, but the 900s are on another level. The effortless detail and precision is like nothing I’ve ever heard and it’s the first headphone or IEM that I’ve purchased a second time.
I’m going to keep enjoying these for many years to come.

I cannot listen to the IE600 for long because they give me a headache. I can understand why people love them, but damn it's not for me.

I’ve never heard the ie900, but going from the 800, to the 800s, was truly a better product. I hold on to them for sentimental reasons, although they rarely get used. But I know if I ever did get rid of them, I’d miss them

I’ve still got my IE800S and will never let it go. The 800 sounds the most like an open back I’ve ever heard from an IEM and the 900 is like an open back with BASS!

Had to send in my 800S for repair for the second time. First time one driver died and it looks like now the other one. But I don't want to give up on them until the IE900S comes out! :P

That’s a shame. I’ve had mine for at least 6 years? Still mint.
@James-uk glad you are enjoying the ie900. What senn did with these minuscule 7mm DD is nothing short a miracle. Or is it 6mm? Oh my memory!
The lcdi4 gets all the attention though.

Any current advice on how to fix a broken MMCX connector since Sennheiser won’t?

Have the ear tips been revised? I’m getting on much better with the silicone ones this time around and also vs the ones on my IE600. They seal easier and feel less flimsy. Is this just manufacturing tolerance or is it a know change?

Because of the onset of (bad phrases and expletives) loud tinnitus in Dec,'23, I don't enjoy listening like I used to. So, I have my IE900s listed, the best pair I've ever owned. After several interested PMs, some new guy sends me a PM to relay a message in a tone like he's been my bud for years, telling me essentially "thought id <sic> might let you know you have counterfeit iE900s <sic>. The main way to tell are <sic> the brown case and the unrefined etching on the shells......."

Well, needless to say, I was a bit put out by a comment like that, and then suddenly I realized that's mebe why I've only had queries, and no purchase. Yes, I've got them marked at what I'd consider a really low price, but they're doing me no good, so why not?

I bought them directly from Sennheiser in May or June 2021. I must have lost a container of email somewhere because I can't find any correspondence of my purchase from Sennheiser, so I reached out to them. After holding my breath, I finally heard back from Aime at Sennheiser support after several email exchanges, and was told that mine were authentic. I think there might have been issues when they split Pro and Consumer groups shortly after the IE900 came out.

Just expressing thoughts, and couldn't think of a place to vent. :)

I feel ya, I had the same paranoia when I bought the 800s. Fakes were flooding around. But like you I contacted minidisc in Sydney Australia and they are a genuine dealer and confirmed the serial number. Not that I plan on selling them, but I’d imagine a hard time will super low ball offers

They have changed a bit over the years. The case was different to the black one that it is now back when they were still produced in Germany (the very first/early batches).

Now, they come with a black case and even the interior packaging (basically the design and the layout inside the box) has changed at least twice, the latest change has been relatively recently still :)

I got mine soon after they were released, directly from Sennheiser. I think with IEMs it is the best you can do, because they are easily faked as these days.

I’d have probably made an offer for them if you were based in Europe

Can you recommend a place to buy ie 900 in UK. seems to be £899 best price at richer sounds.
