IE 900 was expensive. Now is super-expensive.
Who it buy for its price? Only one DD and V-shaped sound. :frowning2:
Its not just the ie900 that is affected by price inflation its everything in the hobby I'm afraid. (and life in general) Welcome to life in the 2020's. These things come and go around around about once a generation.

There are still bargains to be had in everything and there is always second hand.

After 3 years the left side of my IE 800 S (by the capsule) had got a contact issue. Could tell me anyone, what to do now?

That would be me! Very happy with my purchase even with the added cost.:ksc75smile::ksc75smile: btw--I find them more U-shaped than a V.

the more i listen to them the more i enjoy. if you watch various youtube reviews across IEMs... the ie900 is very often the hidden, surprising star - delivering amazing details across various genres.

and... to take up your point - the relative competitors during therese reviews ar "much" more expensive.

Just a question guys. My IE800 S has got a problem. The left side had got contact issues. Is it repairable, or not? (Actually I don't have the money for the IE 900.)
You might get in touch with Sennheiser Support?

Yeah, it's "only" a single DD...

You can write this off as a case of confirmation bias; I won’t mind.

I’m intellectually predisposed to single-driver systems. There is a simple elegance to them. They bypass the complications of multiple driver systems. Driver alignment, phase matching, and the extra circuitry of a crossover are no longer issues. There are only two variables involved: driver and the acoustic space it is placed inside.

Of course, the implementation of a simple solution can be incredibly complex, as is the case with the IE900.

Yes, it’s “only” a single DD, but I’d wager that hundreds—probably thousands—of hours of testing before Sennheiser arrived at the final product. And—to me—this effort shines through every time I stick them in my ears.

I find the soundstage is unique among the TOTL monitors I’ve tried. No, it’s not the widest, but it still has great height even at those outside edges. The IE900 soundstage is much closer to a perfect sphere. The other monitor I’ve found with a similar shape is the ER4. Where the ER4 is much, much smaller than the space between my eardrums, the IE900 is larger than my head in all dimensions.

The IE900 may not be the most detail-oriented iem, but each of those details is presented in complete 3D. From the very first time I put them in my ears, I was struck by the emotional engagement it gave me with my music. It took me quite a while before I finally figured out why they appealed to me so much. It is the acoustic completeness of a unified stereo presentation. It sucks me into the music every time.

So yeah, it’s only a single DD…

Yeah it's unfortunate, but I did end up buying it at the new price. Worth to me since I've went through a lot of IEMs and IE900 is one of the few I want to keep. Only thing that could offset is if I prefer the IE600, but I really like how the IE900 is tuned.

And as I said you can still buy it on offer for 1149,- Euros. They are in stock and genuine. I got them yesterday.
