hi, which DAP pairing best with ie900? say in budget range around USD 2000 for orchestral music please?tks
I'm more of a DACamp guy but I've tried both the FiiO M11 (extensively, with IE 900, 300) and M17 (briefly with IE 900, 200, and HD 660S2 all in balanced 4.4 config.) and found both to be honest and rich in detail with a great "nothing" backdrop (super important on lower impedance IEM), and a shade on the warmer side in overall presentation. Did not get the chance to try them side by side, however, but from memory had similar sonic experiences, the M17 being a tad warmer (but not a "warm DAP" per say) to my ears.

I have been trying to find the perfect "pairing" for the IE 900 over the last few days. So far, I have found that Cayin N8ii sounds the best with the IE 900 when it comes to a "standalone" DAP. The Lotoo PAW Gold Touch was a close second. It shows spectacular microdynamics with the IE 900, but slightly falls behind the staging and macrodynamic punch of the N8ii.

As someone already mentioned, Sony WM1A2 is another great option, though I think the Sony is a bit "polite" in certain genres that I listen to (primarily: rock, metal). Nonetheless, it's excellent for laid-back listening and the layering on it is better than anything in the price range.

As for the DAP I am using: It's Lotoo PAW 6000. The bass retains the physicality and slam and gets some added texture. Not bad at all.

My right earphone died yesterday... will see how warranty will cover that case.

When i shake my head a little bit i hear a noise that something is moving inside the earphone.

Previously i've seen comments that they can broke.... anyone knows how often IE900 breaks?

Have read around 100+ pages but still on the fence about picking up a IE900. Is there anything it is likely to give me that my IER-Z1Rs or EVOs wont? It appears to me to come down to comfort as being the main differentiator, interested to know what you guys think.

Better mids than both of those IMO.

Switched to the Sedna EarFit tips. Treble is airier now which slightly increases the perceived stage. Also, found the iFi Go Blu to pair rather nicely with the IE 900. Not the most resolving but got that extra smoothness in the treble that iFi gears tend to have.

IE900 is not the best when it comes to comfort.
Stock eartips are too thin, hard to get proper seal with them. Time is needed to get used to it.

Other eartips sound worser to me on IE 900. So only stock tips are recommended.

Could you please specify which Earfits these are? Are they the Max version? Thanks

Could someone please explain properly what the purpose(s) of the little ventilation hole on the bottom side of the earpieces is (are)? Is that in fact a ventilation hole? Reduce pressure build-up in the ear canal, for comfort, for ear health? Acoustic tuning? Prevent driver flex? …

Thanks a lot in advance.

I‘d like to hear about your experiences with Forza Audioworks aftermarket cables for the IE 900. In particular 4.4 mm balanced. In comparison to the stock cable.

- There are two cable types, hybrid Cu-Ag and pure Cu ones. Is the copper one more recommendable than the hybrid, given that I consider the IE 900 a little bit strident in the upper registers? Am looking for a bit more smoothness and warmth up there. Or does the copper one lose in technicalities? And I would not like to get the bass response more pronounced than with the stock 4.4 mm; ideally bass would receive a bit more control.

- Is my choice of earpiece connector ”Sennheiser IE“ correct?

- Is the choice of ”Sony 4.4 mm“ correct? I think I read s.th. about Furutech 4.4 mm here on this thread???

What‘s your experience? Connector fit, comfort, microphonics, and sound? Thanks in advance.
