Impressions, reviews, they all say the same. No changes from the IE80, they are really great for all genres that I have listened to, I actually have more head time with my full-size cans, which are  more accurate and detailed. But this is not to say that the IE80 aren't, just that my full-size cans are sort of special. Beyer Nagra DT48 S/A/E vintage, where the bass is more accurate and textured and the mids so sweet and lifelike. Have also auditioned the LCD3 very recently against the DT48, Hmmmm, I don't think I will be buying those.

Thanks for shooting down the LCD3  That's how you save some serious mula lol. I'll be sticking to my modded cans for a while.

Out-of-topic post..
Having heard of the Sennheiser IE10 in this thread, don't you think Sennheiser will make it have the sound signature of the HD800? Just like how the IE8 has the smooth and non-fatiguing sound of the HD650..

Sennheiser USA has started shipping them. Anyone recieve there pair? Why doesnt someone do a proper review of the IE80, as its the final retail version and comparing it with the
IE8, or HD650. Im still doubting the IE10. I dont think there will be a IE10 unless its a custom

That is exactly what I was told by a Sennheiser Dealer: "The IE-10 will sound on par with the HD-800."

...also from Dealer: "The IE-10 will be unveiled at the CES in Jan '12. It will NOT be a custom."

The IE-80 is not readily available yet, will probably be next year '12 before the stores start having them.

Looks like the IE10 wont be around for a very long time then..

Why doesnt someone do a proper review of the IE80

As far as I am concerned, I've been considering a full review, but realized that I had already posted everything worth mentioning. Feel free to ask if you have any particular questions that haven't been anwered in the thread.

Btw, I'll get my IE80s to dfkt next week, so we'll have another expert opinion shortly.

Well there is a big difference between unveiling a product and releasing a product with some companies.

I already have IE7's & itching to upgrade.

From the impressions so far it would seem that the SQ improvements from IE8 to IE80 are slight. Where as IE6 to IE7 to IE8  were more obvious.

Taking into account these impressions would I be wiser to get hold of genuine IE8's from a friend for £100 or wait & pay more for new IE80's (£220-270) ?

I really can't speak as of now. Until I get my hands on a pair.  But from the impressions I've been hearing it seems to be what I was looking for in the IE8 signature.

I think that's a pretty fantastic deal so as long as they sound right and are balanced.

So what are your thought i2ehan?

The above video is from an official SENN rep. I hope you didn't think it was me.

I'd have, at the very least, mentioned a thing or two pertaining to the sound.

However, I just ordered my own pair!

I've lived with the IE8 for nearly 2 years time in the past. Let's see if the IE80 can rejuvenate that love. I'll post back whenever it arrives, my friend.
