Thanks smallcaps and cn11, burn-in isn't a big deal for me, since I'm used to doing it with all of my phones. Hopefully we'll see some price drops sometime soon in the US for these.

Umm something is slightly worrying me :/ If I look through the mesh protecters (Having trouble of thinking the correct term) but the thing that stops the wax. Anyway I see a different shade of grey (A dull grey in between gaps) Is this normal and nothing to worry about? Since I can still hear from both sides incredibly clearly still.

Another good opamp combo in the iBasso D10 to use with the IE8 is the HiFlight's "topkit" with AD743 on a 2:1 adapter, and AD8616 as buffers. I like it with the IE8 a little more than the OPA2228/AD8656 that I had in the D10 previously, and as an added bonus this new opamp combo works well with my ES3X and HD600 too. Still testing it out with more phones, but wanted to share this.

Really impressed the IE8's, the trump my HD595s which I been keeping around as easy plug and play without amp after I got HD650's, but seriously considering selling the HD595 now after getting IE8's.

Also excited to hear the topkit combo once testing is complete. Can you comment on how the kit copes with the bass from the ie8s in comparison to the stock opamp config?

Cheers

The bass is better controlled and not bloated, and the mids and treble are filled in. IE8 sounds more like an HD600 than an HD650 now, which is the way I like it.

IE8s arrived this morning.
source: clip w/ 192kbit mp3s.
I like it. it is definetaley an improvement over the metro.fi 150s.
adding FiiO E5 = adding some soundstage, little sound extension and some hiss.

the highs're not entirely present. they're a bit too soft, it's like they can't breach into the "nearfield".
bass is soft too. there's shape but not much detail.

probably have to start to burn the thing in.
and I'm considering to change the clip too.

@Selk
Clip is probably not the best source for them. I wouldn't bother amping them with something low end like the E5.

@Tera
If you like them out of the box, you'll probably love them more by the end of the week.
