Just wondering what's up with the comments about updating the firmware?
I have the HDVA600 - do I need to be aware about firmware updates for this amp?  If so, how do you do it?

Thanks -
RCB

But these current prices are active, at these US dealers:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=hd800&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Top+Nav-Search=

You can get a better price at these authorized dealers, than at Sennheiser's site.
Personally, I bought my (2) pair of HD800 from Crutchfield.  They are a very good dealer -

Enjoy the music,

Has anyone tried pairing the HDVD800 with yggdrasil? If so, any comments?
Thanks in advance.

I did and it was outstanding but wasn't screaming end game to me. I'm going to be trying/buying the Rag before getting the Yggdrasil. There wasn't enough low end for me like I've heard w/ the first watt and Wa5.

Hi,

I'm looking to purchase HDDVD 800 to power http://audioengineusa.com/Store/A5-plus-B-Powered-Speakers( Audio Engine A5+) speakers. Would this be a worthy purchase ?I Also have a pair of HD700's, but I'd like a dac/amp combo to power both.

Cheers :)

There is not pre-amp in either the 800 or 600. You can still hook any active speaker to it xlr or rca.

The Audioengine speakers will work fine.  Just keep in mind that the volume control of the Senn amp does not affect the XLR or RCA jacks on the back, so volume will have to be controlled by the volume control on the Audioengine speaker.

What OTHER headphones (besides the expected HD 800, HD 650, HD 600, and maybe HD 700) have you successfully used your HDVD 800 with?

With an output impedance carefully selected to be 43 ohms, it is high enough that it violates the rule of 1/8 recommended for headphone damping (headphone input impedance should be at least 8 x amp output impedance), except for headphones with 300 ohm + impedance.

Do you actually HEAR a degradation when you use the HDVD 800 with a lower impedance headphone, say a Grado, as compared to an amp with lower output impedance?
