Seriously though, there should not be a difference (that does not say there isn't) except the wooden box was done away with.

Silent product updates happen, but the odds for a difference between the same product released in two different countries are small to none. It seems impractical :)

Did anyone replace stock cables, either for HD 800s or HD 820?

Cheers!o
I've got one by Fog City... balanced 4pin XLR made with Magami cable and Neutrik connector, a bit stiff but ok.

Hart cables come up quite often

And the Arctic Core series are quite flexiable and fine too.

Any particular reason to replace the stock, too long, too bulky, unmanageable, deteriorated like mine did....????

I wouldn't spend silly money though.

Thanks for the response. I had the chance to choose between a German made pair of hd820s and a pair made in Ireland so I was curious.

Sure, anytime! If I were you, I'd get a pair that's more affordable and possibly closer to your place, just in case of warranty reasons

Thanks! No, it's all fine. I like stock cables a lot. I got three with HD 820 - made in Germany : )), and I got two (only) with HD 800s - made in Ireland : )).
I now have four that I don't use. Two 4.4 mm and two 6.3 mm. I use one XLR, and I "need" one more XLR. No, I don't actually need one; I already bought one XLR on Amazon, it was a good price, and it looks like it fits with the amp (Auris HA-2 SF) as it came together. It has wooden parts, just like the amp. So basically, I like this one a lot.
4 pin XLR

I thought I might buy one more XLR if I find some good responses from those who claim it's better than the original, but also, I am not willing to pay a lot. These you posted could be in the range I would be willing to pay.
But also there is an option of Aliexpress. I bought some cables there, and it seems that it was worth it. I did notice a difference (I replaced the original VDH D-102 MK III with Aliexpress Nordost Odin), especially with my cheaper set-up AMP/DAC. I combined cables now differently, and I like the sound better. With Auris, anyway, everything seems perfect, so I couldn't tell if there was a difference...let's say the placebo was active, and I did think, hmm...this is now a bit better too : )

BTW: I was reading about other cables and some claim that LAN cables make a huge difference, especially those CAT8. Do you think It's worth buying one and replacing the existing one which is... actually, I have no idea, it's a basic grey one : )?

Cheers!

Sounds like my collection...and 2 extra modded XLRs. lol

4 pin XLR
I was looking at that, but never did order
those who claim it's better than the original,
that is the million dollar question...the hobby IMHO has gotten over romanticized ...to me wires are wires...connections are important though and Sennheiser's Lemo connectors are fine.

Only problem with the stock cable, and a big one, is that with me for what ever reason, body oils? or something, the exposed rubber section eventually disintegrates.
It's a known problem but only affects a small percentage of users, Sennheiser were kind enough to send me a replacement each time.

I was able to recoup some of the cable by cutting off the exposed rubber sections and then redoing the individual leads with Paracord, time will tell if they now hold up as the cables overall are extremely well made.

Hope you did go for the German version.

Have Moon Audio Silver Dragon, Toxic Silver Widow and stock, of course. Toxic sounds best adding another layer of clarity.

That's weird, oils?
Is there any particular technique to pull out connectors easily, or is it always that hard? Once, I managed to get them out without force, but I have no idea how that happened. It's a crazy thing how cables disintegrate. I was thinking quite the opposite, how well their build looks. They are not very flexible, but I don't move them much anyway. I just pick headphones, and that's about it; the rest of the cable is in its place. It seems that headphones and cables are made for gentle folks : )
So, you contacted Sennheiser directly about the cable issue, not the vendor?

Cheers!
