The Apple Airpods is exactly what you are looking for.
Hifiman RE2000’s are really close.Anyone know any IEM that has similar sound signature of HD800S in term of soundstage, holographic and detail? thanks
Thanks It is a little beyond my budget but I will still look into it.
I have the HD800S and although I have a few other TOTL headphone as well I always find myself coming back to it.

With the right DAC/AMP combination to tame some of the brightness (or perhaps a touch of DSP) these are some of the most comfortable headphones.
Has anyone tried pairing the Hugo2/2Go with the HD800S as to whether this will synergise? Or am I better sticking to may WA11 setup.

Agreed, HD800S always has its own unique sound that cannot be easily replaced by other headphones. Always impresses me when I go back to it how airy, spacious it sounds and with all the clarity too.

Well..it happened again...my second Sennheiser balanced XLR cable has started to disintegrate again where the rubber casing becomes quite gummy.
Exact same issue back in 2018.

...and was replaced by Sennheiser under warranty..

They are now obviously now passed warranty but will contact Sennheiser to see if they still use the same composition in the rubber as the cable/cables were not abused and the headphones are only used a few times a week and stored properly.
And the replacement at 20% or more of the total cost of the 800S is a think twice. : (

Will wait for response from Sennheiser, who I must say have been very good at addressing customer concerns.
May need to look at 3rd party replacements.

Get a prion 4 it costs more than the hp tho, but never breaks down and nice sound improvement.

Materials used:
Canare L-4E5C cable
Paracord sleeve, black
Cardas Soldering Wire Quad Eutectic Silver Solder
I've made a few with Canare cables so they can be a bit stiff, a pliable microphone cable I find works best.

New HD800S owner here, how fragile is the SS mesh on the back of the headphone? I was inspecting it up close, and ran my finger across the mesh which to my surprise went inwards a bit. Luckily it bounced back but it seems fragile, rather fingerprint sensitive as well.

#920 here just fine. Course I avoid sticking my finger in the mesh.

I have a pair of HD800S phones to partner a HDV820 DAC/Amp. Is it worth my investing in an aftermarket cable for my phones, and if so, are there any recommendations?
Get a better DAC instead, provide you don't have another DAC.I have a pair of HD800S phones to partner a HDV820 DAC/Amp. Is it worth my investing in an aftermarket cable for my phones, and if so, are there any recommendations?
The DAC on the 820 will get you by, but a dedicated DAC will get the most outta your HD800S.
I will love to get, at least, the HDVA600, which is only an amp for my 800S.
Still, if you are hell bent on getting better cables, I cannot help you with that, except maybe with the USB cables. Get something like an Oyaide class B or class A cable.
