To go balanced or not to go balanced that is the question.....

New cables + WA22 + Balanced DAC

      vs

WA2 + Yulong D100

Wallet obviously says no balance, but heart says balance.

I hate the 4 week+ wait time for a WA, but I am set on it. Just need to figure out the rest.

I would go wa2 + TS5998 power+ Mullard CV2492 driver and Telefunken EZ80 rectifier, sound fantastic

Hey my absolute favourite WA2 tube combination!

I just picked up a quad of the Mullard E88CC/CV2492s for my Liquid Fire. But right now with my Genalex Gold Lions, I can safely say that my HD800s have never sounded better. I just recently added the Cardas Fat Pipe as well, nice job smoothing things out a bit.

Just got new tubes, decided to go for a Leben for a second headphone amp because I want to use it for speakers mainly (so the can amp is just a bonus).

So the HD 800. :D

Nice!

Speaking of which...

Is the hiss some experience with the Leben / HD800 combo more dependent on tubes or is it just an inherent problem?

I'm looking at either the CS300XS or going all out on the CS600 (for more speaker options as it puts out twice the power).

Sennheiser HD-800 & Go-Dap 4.0 DAC/Amp from VentrueCraft

I had my doubts that this compact DAC/Amplifier could drive the HD800, but I had a chance to pair them both at the Village Meet-Up in L.A. and discover that this little amp, that fits the iPhone 4 & 4S perfectly, had just enough juice to power the HD800 to loud-enough levels.   On most listening material, the volume knob has to be about 90%, but in some cases it has to be at 100%.
I haven't found a track in which I would like to go louder and the amp couldn't do it.   It just fits the bill, for these hard-to-drive cans.

Just wondering, are there any HD 800 owners here experiencing an exacerbation in tinnitus/ear-ringing on a regular basis since getting the HD 800?
