Is anyone using these with an aftermarket cable? If so, what do you notice? Do cables that work well for the 650 work well for the 660s?
I already have a Silver Dragon, and I’m wondering if it would work with the slightly different sound or if it’d make the 660s too sharp.

I haven’t tried an aftermarket cable yet but do have one coming in. Just a Canare cable which I found tends to better flesh out the sound over the stock when I had one on my HD 600 and HD 650. Sadly have no idea how the silver dragon sounds on it. I’ve always found the stock cables on the HD 6xx series kinda meh and held them back a bit. I’m curious how the headphone responds to cables as well.

I’m using the Nordost Blue Heaven. It’s a nice improvement over the stock. More refined sound overall. Cleaner, smoother treble. It seemed to have a less noticeable effect on the HD650.

Sadly, I have not been able to hear the HD 660. I do use a Blue Dragon for the HD 650 & HD6XXX and find it a better all-around cable than the stock cable.
I would definitely use the silver dragon for awhile with the hd 660. I have not heard it, everything I have read has been positive. Please give a update in this thread when you can, I am interested in the out come.

Well that's encouraging as I was almost tempted to cancel my back-order from November : ( .....maybe I will wait a little longer. : )
Damn, you sure have patience, I wish I had that virtue !

."The king is dead, long live the king".... as in the last 2 years I've actual bought and tried 4 different pairs of HD650s, 2 used, one new and the HD6XXs... and as much as I tried they eventual loose my interest.
What has been your go to phones when you have gotten tired of the HD 6XXX ?

I actually don't have the 660s yet. Whether or not it would sound good with the Silver Dragon is just part of my pro/con list for if I should get it. Always a pro when expensive after-market upgrades work well for multiple cans :)

If I do end up getting them, I'll certainly post my impressions of the difference.

From what I gather Sennheiser Canada has been also been back-ordered since November....I've got a pair of HD800S hanging around... some AKG K7XXs playing second fiddle and ie800s when I'm out and about. : )

For those that have/had both, which one is best as all rounder between HD660S and focal Elear ?

I have had both. I did not like the Elear at all but like the HD660s quite a bit, so for me the HD660s is a much better headphone, no contest.

I received my lyr 2 today. And hello headphones! Wow. They really woke up with this amp. Nice range. The guitar on Sea Change is nicely articulated, the drums hit just right, the piano is crisp.

This is an album I’ve been listening to for 15 years on all sorts of devices at all sorts of encoding quality from 128k mp3 to lossless. It sounds great streaming from Tidal (via AirPlay so not MQA format).

Moving on to Bon Iver, 22, A Million now. 10 (Death Breast)‘s torn up drums sound amazing. The responsiveness is stellar. Thumbs up to these cans with this amp.
