Just got my first pair of hd650s. I'm floored by these things in my oppinion they're marvels of human engineering when I get the money I'm getting 4 more pairs just to make sure I have enough hd650s for the rest of my life in case there discontinued. This is my first hifi system, it consists of a Bottlehead crack and a hrt music streamer. Love it

You can buy a HD800 with that amount of money and still have spare.

True but I don't think I would buy a hd800 for 3 times the price I can't imagine they're that much better. Plus I heard they're rather bright which isn't my preference I'll be going with LCD 2s if I ever decide I need something better than this. I probably won't buy 4 pairs tho, probably just one

Just buy a couple extra pair of pads and you'll be set for 5+ years. For cosmetic protection I added a small strip of packing tape along the edge of the headband to protect against known chipping issues.

For a portable rig, I would just buy the HD580/HD600 cable with the 3.5mm termination, rather than adding that bulky adapter.

It's my plan if I keep the 650s. But I won't be using the thin 600 cables. I'll probably go for the Kimber or other German fast cables.

He made it that way on purpose to raise head way above the box and to use the neck as cable loop.
x2.
That is an exceptionally long neck

i just received my RSA Intruder. The sound of this thing out from my HD650 (with ipod alone) is a bit surprising and is VERY good. I really can feel the sound stage from this portable amp. The sound is clean, very clean. I feel like the sound of my HD650 is getting bigger and wider. Nice amps ! I need more time to really know how good this amp can be. Hopefully is getting better and better. And from now...i can tell (paired with ipod alone) the Intruder is definitely better than my ALO International driving my HD650. I will later add CLASdb to the chain and compare them, and also compare their build in DAC plug to my laptop.

I love my HD650's. Recently when i move my head when listening to them their is the occasional clicking noise from the headband or cup on the right side which annoys me when i'm doing a mix.
Anyone else had this problem or know how to get rid of it. Could it be down to me loosing the little piece of plastic that stops the cup coming off the headband on the right side?

I get the "click" usually when I stretch them to put them on for the first time of the day. Mine is more of a creak though.
