When one takes the HD6XX:
• adds the Custom Cans UK mods,
• removes driver-side foam,
• replaces ear-side foam with sheer netting,
• connects Norne Audio Vygarde h/p cable,
• drives the above with LTA MZ3,
• the result is:

Agreed. I’ve removed the rear foam on all of mine (580/600/650), but decided to leave the front foam - after experimenting with various options, I decided on a slightly softer than oem foam which I bought cheap from China on eBay. No premeditation, just luck of the draw that I happen to like it, physically and sonically.
I also agree with the earlier post that the 600 benefits most from the CC back weight mod, in which I prefer it unstuffed. The 650, when it gets it, gets it stuffed, but usually doesn’t get it at all, because it mostly lives in the 600 (although I do hear a tightening of the bass with the 650, the benefit in extra bass on the 600 is, IMHO, much greater). Mine is the ‘raw’ copper, not the shiny nickel. Maybe time for another set or two….?

Howdy folks, I spent some time using the search function and wasn't able to find a definite answer to whether HD6XX uses the same pads as HD650. My H6XX def need a fresh pair of pads and Massdrop hasn't be able to help me at all in this regard.
I just got my HD6xx in a few hours ago. These are midrange monsters. I love em. They don't don't have that super fast low end attack like my T50rp do but the T50 lacks that ultra clear midrange. These(HD6xx) are on a different level when it comes to mids. I'm really enjoying these for modern folk...

They do, but further to the above comment, the replacement pads that Drop sell are not the same as the stock pads that come with the 6XX/600/650.
In terms of a longer-lasting substitute, there are new suede pads from ZMF that seem to preserve most of the stock signature while widening the sound and cleaning the bass mildly. They might also be worth looking into.

Cool. Thanks. It would be nice to find the stock pads. I hear these wear pretty fast and I don't really want to change the sound of these. They are lovely just the way they are.
