Well, I haven’t tried a lot of tube amps, but they sound very good with the Schiit Lyr3 tube hybrid amp using various tubes. My fav tube so far is the new production Tung-Sol 6SN7 GTB.

Yeah...got rid of my OTL amp (tired of tube matching/rolling).

Must admit, though, that the Lyr 3 is tempting; nice amp and just one tube instead of 4.

It’s a great amp, and it responds well to tube rolling as well in my experience, and, although I haven’t listened to a lot of amps with the HD6XX to compare, I also find that it drives them well and with authority.

I also like it exactly because it doesn’t have a lot of tubes. I’m a bit reluctant to get a full-on tube amp with a lot of different tubes; there’s just too many variables

I'm thinking Jot 2 to replace my Asgard 3. I've read the entire thread here abou it. I'm looking for a fully balanced amp so it I think it would fit the bill.

I'm loving my HD6xx with the 887. I'm running it fully balanced from DAC to headphones and it sounds wonderful. The 887 drives these effortlessly on gain setting 1(-4db), but I would like to to roll in another crack/speedball amp someday or maybe try a Darkvoice.

I recognise it as an HD6XX modded with a Custom Cans copper mass load mod (https://jfunk.org/wpc/product/hd600-hd650-cnc-copper-mass-loading-mod-diy-kit/).
I don’t know what cable is connected to it though, but if it sounds as good as it looks it’s definitely a winner!
