Better upgrade to the HD800 then. No clamping pressure there!

You can clamp it between a box or some books (5 to 6 inches width) and it will loosen up after few weeks. When I first got mine, I clamp mine on a standard small Amazon box. The box is about 6 inches width. The box also acts as the headphone stand. It also prevented bugs and dust from going inside the headphone.

I just extend it all the way then hold and bent the metal part and it works like a charm. Thanks!

I used a booze bottle as a temporary headphone stand and it eased out the clamp to a more comfortable level.

Hi all. Due to a new addition to the family, my headphone days are sadly over. I've put my SB'd cap-modded Crack, my HD650s and a couple of tubes (GEC brown base & TS 5998) on eBay UK. They're all pretty cheap. 200 quid for the Crack. 90 for the phones. 40 for the tubes. They've just got to make way. Pretty gutted to be honest as the SB Crack + GEC & E80CC + HD650s are basically the best I've ever heard music but yeah, a bittersweet feeling, I suppose.

May I advise against that kind of sale.  You'll always attach the loss of your music to that child...

...I'm 44 and my father still refers to me a "the reason he lost his GTO".  Nice stuff to hear all your life, eh?

IMO no need to wait that long for the headband to loosen just bend the metal part i just bent mine few times because i bent mine  a little loose  so i just gently bent it the other way around. As long as you do this gently no harm to the headphone.
NOTE: Extend the cups all the way then hold the metal part of the headband only then bend it gently.

I remember the clamp pressure being something at first, but it loosened up to the point of the HD-600 tried 2 weeks after (known to have less clamp force) felt bad!

The headband padding has also been unbearable for me the first evening I tried the HD-650, not sure why, but I really had spots of pain on the top of my head after removing them, but I insisted a bit too much

That issue was all gone the next day, still wondering why it hurt me so much that first evening.

Today, with both problems solved, I sometimes wear them for 8 hours in a row without any issues. The first thing that eventually becomes unconformtable would be the headband, but it has more to do with my head than the headphones since it doesn't always come up as the same time.
