They are based on my taste and preference.

1. Mjolnir is very detailed, clean and natural vs. Crack+SB is very enjoyable and musical, also pretty clean.
2. Crack: Very musical and pretty warm vs. Valhalla is bright (not as bright as the SS amps) but pairs well with the HD650
3. Lyr is warm, punchy, and dynamics
4. Vali does the job

If you like the warm sounding amps, Woo WA3 is also a good choice, IMO.

Pretty decent job summing up my thoughts as well.

Haha... odd, I have the Audeze on more often with this setup. Perhaps I'm still on new toy syndrome? Well not really, more critical listening is more rewarding with LCD2 but more laidback sound with larger soundstage would be the HD650. For me... depends on mood and music choice. Both are here to stay... unless i get the bad itch for the LCDX, in which case the LCD2 will go, but ultimately the HD650 will stay for sure

Hey Folks,

I just thought I'd post up and say that I have joined the Sennheiser HD 650 club!

Two years ago, I bought a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50 (white model-coiled cord) that I've been listening to ever since. I still think they are one of the best buys in the headphone world.

However, after being on this forum for a couple years and hearing some Sennheiser HD 600s at a headphone meet, I could not resist the temptation to take it a little further.

I received my brand new Sennheiser HD 650 headphones via Fed-Ex today, so I thought I'd let ya'll know I spent the cash and joined the club.

As of today, I'm a happy Sennheiser HD 650 owner too.

Cheers!

are they authorized dealers? by the way, has anyone bought a case for them?

From my research, I saw that they weren't authorized. You can contact Sennheiser and see for sure.

^^ Welcome!! And what are you amping them with?

Thanks!

Only temporarily, I am amping them with a FiiO E17. However, at the same time I ordered the HD 650s, I also ordered a FiiO E09K to supplement my existing FiiO E17. The HD 650s arrived first, but the FiiO E09K is "in the mail" and should arrive any day. The HD 650s are sounding great with the E17, but I ordered the FiiO E09K in order to have an appropriate upgrade in the amp department (within my budget) at the same time.

I got the HD 650s from American Musical Supply, which is an authorized dealer. I'm also claiming the $50 rebate that Sennheiser has on the HD 650s through the end of April if they are purchased new from an authorized dealer. I ordered the FiiO E09K from the Micca Store, which is an authorized FiiO dealer.

can you post a picture? I want to see how it fits, thanks.

Here you go. Note that they fit without closing the adjusters. I consider this a good thing. Admittedly this means removing the cable but that's maybe not such a bad habit to have. What you can't see is that there's about a 1/4" of lateral space in which the headphones could rattle. This is easily solved by carrying a large cleaning duster in the case also. There's plenty of room for the cable too.
