Hi Loquah,
I dont think you can really compare the 4.Ai to the HD650, they are completely different animals and products.
However the 4.Ai is analytical and detailed, excellent soundstage and instrument seperation with amazing vocals. These are my go to IEM's and are perfect when I am out and about or at home. I also use them in the office if I want a good seal with no sound leakage.
The HD650 I dont find is as analytical or detailed, but has amazing mids and also very good with female vocals and accoustic type music. That isnt to say they fail with other types of music, because they dont.....I find that the HD650 are a good do it all headphone, whether it is powered from my ALO Portable amp or my uDAC2 (I am awaiting delivery of the Schiit Modi / Magni combination for the office). I would say that the soundstage is good with decent instrument seperation, but on some types of music I do hear the "Veil" that people talk about compared to my 4.Ai (Again I am awaiting a Silver Plated Copper Cable, which I hope may aleviate some of that and open them up a bit more).
They both have their merits and benefits, but too my ears they sound completely different, whilst still being two very good products.
Hope that helps.
Jason36, how similar is the 4.Ai sound sig to the HD650?
