Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

Was surprised to see the kit in my mailbox this morning. Anyway, once I watched the Youtube Video the mod was extremely easy. I have to admit that the difference is not sublime (in my opinion). All the great mids we expect from Senn's, but there is a clarity, crispness, quickness, that I didn't experience previously. Many thanks to Jonathan C! Thanks for the tip. I think that I will order more kits for the other 6 series cans I have.

You are welcome….and if you are adventurous, take out earside foam & replace with fine mesh netting (from arts/crafts shoppe).

That sounds awesome. I just got my tracking number, hopefully it’ll arrive quickly, I can’t wait to hear myself! :L3000:

Thanks for the tip. I took the mesh out completely. How do you think fine mesh might impact the sound vs. no mesh at all?

I just received my Custom Cans UK Mod.
Any tips or recommendations for the installation?
Nothing special.
Pull out the grills and install the weights.
If they fit loose then use the stickers.
Piece of cake.
I haven't bothered with the foam.
They sound amazing with the weight mod.

For @tafens: go ahead with the Custom Cans UK backweight mod…easy to do (20 minutes)…fantastic results…reversible (but why?)…0ACCB8CA-B792-4CAC-928F-12E4520DEACA.jpeg853165FD-4541-4B23-89F2-DA7A04D97435.jpeg [all foam removed / mesh netting installed earside]
I just finished my HD650 Custom Cans UK mod. Wow! It's like a different HP. AMAZING transformation. Everything is much more detailed. This HP just stepped up another tier. I think I'll be reaching for 650 much more now. 😁 Thanks for the great advice!

I have to admit that my HD6XX with the Drop CTH sound really good together.

I have the fine mesh in to protect the drivers from hair etc. No impact on sound - what I seek.

What would guys say would be the best ZMF headphone for me if I love the sound signature of the HD6XX? I would like to eventually get the Atriums, but I was wondering if the Aeolus was pretty good too at half the price?
