True, we all hear differently and have different preferences.
 
 
Yeah there's only so much you can read which is great because it gives you a good starting point, but the real proof is in the listening for yourself.
 
I also am using balanced cable, and haven't as yet tried the single ended cable that came with the headphones, just balanced with the GS-X mk2, I will tryout the SE cable, but for now I'm sticking with balanced.

I pretty much think that at this price point everything comes down to preference instead of audio quality. You're already like 95-99% there as close to the original source, but your DAC and amps of choice can tailor your personal music to your personal preferences - some became even better than the mastering copies with the all tubes and preamps and planar magnetic drivers being sold and traded.

The 650's sre so much better this time around, I have to believe it's the great system synergy with the HDVA600.

 
+1 I think the synergy the 650s make with the Senn amp is unbelievable. With the XLR-out it simply sound spectacular.

Did anybody try ZYHIFI Cable (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A2QJNJQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)? I just got it and replaced the stock cable with it.
 
Honestly, I was skeptical to believe that a cable makes any noticeable improvement. Still I ordered this cable, because I hoped this one makes HD 650 brighter, even though the improvement is very small. When I changed the cable, surprisingly, I can hear difference. It is not a "night and day" difference. But the phones became definitely brighter and more fine-grained. I am really happy with this purchase
