Mine's in my signature, EMU 0404 USB with HD580s. I'm using Foobar (with ASIO) and play my albums using ALAC and MP3s for the rest. I really love these things - the best headphones I've ever bought. They're driven very well even with the 0404's not-too-strong amp, though I have no basis of comparison with seperate amps.

PC's SPDIF output > Yamaha RX-V430 home receiver > HD 650s.

I'm in love, but always looking for upgrades.

I tested similar setup, with Yamaha Z9, the external DAC, such as Lavry DA10 or Zhaolu, wins easily in details and treble extension.

Apple Lossless > Foobar/ASIO4All > Headroom Desktop Balanced Amp/DAC (Desktop Modules) > Balanced SAA Equinox > HD650s

BTW, I just compared the HD650's Balanced versus Unbalanced (using a single ended Equinox cable) and its all true what they say about balanced

see sig

Getting the 650s was a Wow! Next, so was the PRII.

Not satisfied yet with my setup. But I'm still building it, and enjoying listening, and reading Headfi, and enjoying slowly moving forward with it.

I live in the middle of nowhere, so Ive never heard anybody else's gear. Would love to .. So I sure appreciate all your reviews.

Have a Lavry DA10 DAC on order. Can try it both single into the Larocco and balanced straight into the Senns. This should be fun.

Just found out tonight my orders for a brown dog adapter and AD744BQ opamps, to mod the PRII to Mk2 - both are out of stock. But I'll get some. And the Larocco is pretty good as is.

Have to turn it loud to get the best from the 650. These are great on slower more organic music, acoustic jazz, Stan Getz and lots of Dylan are excellent. A lot of music I love from my youth, the recordings I have are poor, and/or my setups still a bit muddy. Looking forward to this source upgrade, see what the Lavry adds.

PS I never meant to spend so much !! But I'm intrigued as to how good it can sound, how good it can get.

Denon DCD700AE (CD player)
Chord Crimson Audio Cable
Heed Canamp
Sennheiser HD 650 & Sennheiser HD 600
Russ Andrews HC1 Headphone cable

That tidy lot cost me an arm and a leg.

I only originally came on here for some advice on an Mp3 Player.

See my sig below...balanced all the way...the way HD650 was meant to be heard

I have the balanced Mini^3 in an old X-Can V2 enclosure running on 12vDC SLA battery. The polished aluminum block is the future home for balanced cMoy amp
