Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

Mine arrived just now (joining the 650/660S/800S already in my collection). I need to pry the Meze 109 Pro’s off my head but looking forward to giving them a workout. Not expecting a massive difference from the 650 but we’ll see! Mine were made in Ireland. I’m on a Krautrock binge at the moment so going to give Agitation Free - Malesch a listen with them tonight :)

Edit: had a quick listen before going back to work (couldn’t help myself), seems nice! Little brighter than the HD650, lovely sound.

These pair extremely well with the Sony TA-ZH1ES. Oh how I wish I had bought these when I first got into headphones!

So very bad news! I took my hd600 home yesterday since I don’t have an office rig anymore. Getting them home I noticed there is a light buzzing in the left side under 200hz. It gets a bit louder the lower it goes to 20 hz.

Ugh. Wrote sennheiser support and have not received a reply. Black silk version :frowning2:.

Early days on both, I’d probably put the 109 as an upgrade path from the HD600 at this point in my listening.
Try on an OTL amp if you have not.

Ugh. Let me mention that trying to get a response from sennheiser is not easy. Currently trying to speak with a live human :).

Nice tt - is that a Koetsu Black I spy on the business end? If you’re a Koetsu guy, you’ll probably prefer the OTL - I’d suggest a MicroZOTL, but some swear by the BHC kit amp. However, those are not the only two choices (SS or OTL), there are many ways to skin this particular cat. A stiff power supply that won’t wimp out under a dynamic 300 ohm load is the key…

YMMV, IMHO, just my $.03, etc., ad nsuseum.

Thanks! I am enjoying both amps with the HD600 and HD650. That is a Koetsu Black. I have Lyra that needs a rebuild.
