I assume that Emerald Isle is in Ireland? Yes I am part Irish. My HD6XX are "made in Ireland". The marble finish has grown on me and it's something you don't see on any other headphone (at least not that I know of).

Yes, full production is back in Ireland. Check with your shop as to which version they are currently selling if buying new.

I agree with you on the marble version look, but the new version is also pleasing aesthetically. Here is an old picture of them together. The WA3 is long gone, the 600s are here.

Whats you guys favorite albums on the 600s? Some music recs would be appreciated :)

I actually did not know that.

What is your opinion of the WA3? Also are you using Dekoni pads on your HD600?

They both look good. I have a new version on order to compare.

I'm curious why you have the grill cover off your HD600. Also nice stack of Schiit.

How do the HD600s differ from the HD650s? I have the latter and found them cheaper on amazon than the HD600s

The 650 is slightly darker. Others have said warmer, or a bit veiled. The difference is small, but obvious. The 650 is great, but the 600 is sublime IMHO. It's great to have both, because the day is long. :)

Great OTL amp for the price it can still be found at. But for me the Bottlehead Crack (upgraded) provides a richer sound and is less prone to exposing tube microphonics. I would still have the WA3 if a goodq fellow hadn't built my Crack.

Great with the 600 and 650 of course.

To show off the HD800 drivers. And because HD600 grills wont fit. Schiit shared to show measurement rig when I shared measurements.

Wait so you put an HD800 driver into an HD600?

I've considered a BH Crack before. But I'd have to have someone else build it for me. I don't have the space or tools to do it myself.

I have a like-hate relationship with the 650's. I like the laid back sound but there is a 'stuffiness' to them that I don't like. They lack the transparency/air/sparkle that the 600's possess.

Interestingly, I tried a pair of Chinese pads on my 600's today and they turned them into a 600/650 hybrid. I'm actually really digging the sound. I would not recommend them to anyone unless you feel the 600's are a touch too bright. (Defintitely not for tube amps). The pads are thicker and not concave (I think that's the word I'm looking for) like the originals...which makes them a lot more comfortable. The original pads really hurt my temples, so it's a welcome relief.

Any sonic or quality differences between the first HD 600's (2006) and let's say a model which was produced in 2014. All models are genuine and "Made in Ireland" of course.

I've had both. When the older one broke (post-warranty), I sent it into Sennheiser for repair, and they offered to replace the HD-600 with a new one for their $129 basic repair fee. The new phones sound no different than the old set. The new set has the marbled headband and earcups like the original headphones I owned.

Has anyone here tried the new ZMF pads for the 600 series?

I recently got a pair of HD600’s intending to use them with the headphone jack of my stereo receiver (Pioneer SX-939). However, I’m convinced their not sounding their best and looking for an amp.

Is this the best thread to ask for suggestions?
They need voltage. Tube OTL amps are especially good with 300 ohm Sennheisers and 250 and 600 ohm Beyers.

What's your budget and how are you going to drive the amp?
