Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

That HE500 cable is stiff and microphonic, and those yucky conectors on the earcups. But those cans sound great. The stock HD600 cable is both supple and free of microphonics.

I changed my HD600 cable out a while ago just because I didn't like how long it was. It's the only reason I change to aftermarket cables on all of my headphones: the extra length is annoying to me.
Also yes, the connectors on the old Hifimans (so anything that isn't the new HE-1000 or HE-400S) are just terrible to deal with.

Hi guys. I am considering buying an HD600 and I also want to buy a new AMP/DAC for it. I plan to eventually get a Bottlehead Crack for it.
Considering that should I get a NFB-11 (more neutral) or should I get a NFB-15?

Later I will use only the DAC function from the NFB-1x and use the bottlehead crack as the amp. Will a combination of NFB-15+Crack color the sound too much? Is the combination of NFB-11+crack more suitable for the HD600?

I want the right balance to allow me to do some analytical listening, but also just listen to music while doing things (like writing) without it being too distracting.

Hope you guys can elighten me.

I never found the HD600 to be lacking in bass. Might be lacking a little deeper reach, but that's to be expected with an open back anyway so you can't really ding it for that.

IMO it's sub bass that is lacking. I'm not going to chase my tail finding a headphone that does what the 600 does plus. I'm happy to quit while I'm ahead! :)

Is it worth buying both hd600 and hd650?

Unless you have money to burn, and $600 means literally nothing to you, then sure. But otherwise, no. Get the HD600 first. If it's lacking in bass in your mind, return it and get the HD650.

I think the HD600 is perfect.

I already went for hd600 because of innerfidelity...maybe hd800 then :)

I had an impression that for tube amplifier, you need to plug out the headphone connector from the amplifier first and then turn off the amplifier, in case strong current might damage headphone, is it true?

Which amp are you talking about? With my LD MKIV (OTL), I always switch on, wait 4-5 minutes for it to warm up, then plug the headphones. And I always unplug them first before I switch off the amp.
