That is not what he said. His opinion is that the DT990 has a "bigger" soundstage. That does not mean the HD600s are small. They are not. They are quite open.

I've listened to both and the 600 have a more natural, even sound while the 598 sounds muffled, almost as if there's a layer of foam covering the drivers that attenuates high frequencies.
