All my tubes have changed with run time on them. Usually 50 to 100 hours to get them to a consistent sound. This has been my experience using a Schiit Lyr.
1. They wouldn't have been around for so long if they weren't so sexy!
2. 598's are classics, and sq is very similar to 600's. Significant is in the ear of the beholder. The overall fit to me makes them more comfortable in warmer months. Even at 300 ohms, I can drive these with my iPod 5th gen.
the 600's are similar to the 580's. not the 598. If I recall, the 598 is very grado like?
NO Sennheiser is Grado like![]()
As long as it's an upgrade to the hd598's! Or would they be similar enough to not be worth it? I was also eyeing the q701's...

598 is nice but it's still consumer level build quality, plasticky finish and a lower quality driver. The implementation of that driver is very good though.
I'd like a HD600 level driver or better in a more modern angled driver structure like the 598 (that was supposed to be the hd700 and we all know how that turned out).
Sennheiser is now occupied with price increases and competing with Beats for the real profits so ... I'm not holding my breath.
I just traded my DT880 Premium for an HD600. While it is a slight downgrade in comfort and soundstage, I think the HD600 sounds better overall (especially with vocals). I have listened to a few rock, metal, and pop songs. Overall, I think it is a slight upgrade.
