Damn times have changed. When I came here after I got my HD600s some one recommended me the same mods and I tried them not knowing if I'd like the changes or not. Now everyone's treating the harmless mods like it's attempting to clean a electrostatic diaphragm.

Times have changed indeed. When I came here I was 19 years old... Now I'm 30.

We all got a bit less adventurous I guess.

Being a lot older and having encountered endless frustration and disappointment with audio items not delivering on their claims I am maybe too protective of a product that does deliver.

That's good insight.

Yup, I am also noticing cult like behavior seemingly coming from HD600/HD800 direction.

And your point is? Just because something sells does not mean it is a good product. Beats absolutely kills in the marketplace but does anyone here think they compete with something like an HD600? HD sells tons of motorcycles but I would never throw a leg over one. Now Triumph, there is a nice brand!

Ohhh calling McIntosh Beats is bold... *disclaimer: never tried McIntosh products*

Point was that McIntosh is considered some of the finest stereo gear, and they use tubes. That outdated technology. Nothing to do with sale figures. Not sure how that made sense.

The HD 600/650 does seem like it has a wider spread of positive comments out there than most. It should. :)
