Hey Rosmadi, can you tell if the HD8 squaking/creaking is an "officially" acknowledged issue? There's just far too many reports about it on the internet to be some "single manufacturing defect". I'm curious if it's fixed or Q/A enhanced.

I'm thinking of getting it (again) for a shootoff with Ultrasone 840, but if I do end up with HD8 for good, I reeeaallly don't want to play the return/replace game to just get another friggin squaky pair.

Hi hekeli,

Yes, the squeaks have been reported in an early batch and we've resolved this issue in subsequent production batches. Hope this helps and may you now place your order for the HD8 with peace of mind.

Did you get new ones? Do they squeak?

Yep got new ones, and they still squeak. Sooooo annoying. Had I have known they'd be this bad I wouldn't have bought them; it completely ruins the music.

EDIT: I was told that it was a manufacturing defect and that it was sorted but it hasn't been. I've simply not got the money to send them in again because of a problem that's not my fault. Last time I spoke to Sennheiser they were very rude on the phone and not friendly at all; reminding me very much of Sony, who score a 0/10 on my customer satisfaction chart with Amazon being a solid 9.

I can vouch for the U.S. service department team. They were great with me when I got a new HD 7 DJ with one of the velour pads torn. Since they didn't have replacement pads yet, they just swapped everything for a new pair (headphones and accessories) and paid for shipping. I just had to email my proof of purchase. Really nice team.

HD7DJ blows M50 out of the water.. no doubt I would get it over the M50.

Depends on what you want.  HD380 has a more balanced sound, if a bit lower fidelity, M50 just sucks unless you put HD280 earpads on it with the grey foam on the backs of the pads removed, then its sound quality jumps up to being as good as K545 and HD7/8.
If you are a DJ, you're probably better off with HD7.
