I have a feeling the HD7 has slightly less sparkly / less V-shaped response if the feedback by mikemercer is accurate with his comment about more lower-mid presence in HD7 which would fit my tastes well. Still waiting for some confirmation frequency response-wise but I have a gut feeling I will end up with HD7 as my personal fav among these as I expect it to be more well balanced in mids & highs with similar bass as HD8 and the HD8 being slightly more energetic with a slight boosted highs range. Very excited to hear more about these, maybe finally I will find an upgrade which I'd like and won't break my bank (Ultrasone Signature DJ, Dido Perfect Sound).

I still think the voting is silly, that so many expect HD8 to be "best" just cuz it's the top-of-the-line. :p In this hobby it's not always so the top-end model which fit your tastes best. I voted HD7 personally for the reason I'm guessing it will be more to my liking sonical wise.

Hey hey!
Finally found out the 7 is on it's way to me from Sennheiser!

I'm eager to report my findings. I asked for the 7, as it seemed closer to my beloved HD 25-1 II2s, but with greater punch in the lower midrange. I actually preferred the 7 to the 8, as a successor to my HD 25.

Lets see what happens!!

and I'm PUMPED to get em Rosmadi!!!!

I was so psyched to hear where you guys brought the DJ series.
I've relied on my HD 25-1 IIs for so long - I had, admittedly, unrealistic expectations of the new Senn DJ cans!

But the 7 was glorious.
The 8 was good too - don't get me wrong, and it was merely a first impression - but the 7 struck me deeper,
seemed like it might be a better fir for me - so can't WAIT to live with it for a lil while!

7?????? Them are the 8s.

yeah I asked the guy to take a pic of me wearing the 7s
but he shot the 8s I found out after!!

I did enjoy the 8s - but the 7's lower-midrange clarity really stood out for me
(and the guy from Sennheiser, one of their techs, said that was a "good observation") - I told him I've been DJing w/ the HD 25-1 IIs for a long time
and have been waiting for an upgrade from Sennheiser!!

My impressions to come as soon as they arrive and I break em in!!

That's pretty funny since they measure identically after 300hz. Maybe less subbass brings more clarity, 7's also have a tiny boost over 200-300hz midbass. I know for DJ use 7 might be preferred for those features. Otherwise 8 sounded more exciting and alive to me..

Well.
JUST got my HD7s tonight fellas!!

and I couldn't help myself!
Usually I start off with the factory cord - but since I really loved the 7s at CES so much:
I've been looking for a successor to my HD 25-1 IIs for DJing, since I don't DJ professionally anymore, and only play the occasional gig or after-party -
I thought the 7s had more clarity in the lower midrange and better dimensionality than the 8s. Which this tech from Sennheiser said, surprisingly, "that's
a really astute observation". I laughed, and said no I'm not genius, I've just been using headphones for a long time - and been reviewing Hi-fi for 20 yrs now!!

That freaks me out... Where does the time go?

Anyway - like I said, instead of using the stock cable, I went straight for @scootermafia's Double Helix Cable - my Molecule SE w/ Fusion that was built for my
Momentums! and it sounds terrific. even as I break it in!

Solid bass control, stable isolation with the right adjustment, wonderful livliness and dimension in the midrange. The tonality is nice and warm too, but not too colored.
The highs sparkle, but I know after break-in they'll open up - as I heard a well broken-in pair at CES...

So, why not break em in w/ my Cavalli Liquid Gold??

yeah, I know, its overkill, but its FUN!!
