Got some golds myself , can anyone tell me how i know if i have the 300 or 600 ohm?....sound amazing btw

you’ll know if they have 300ohm printed between the cups and headband then they’re 300ohm if not then they likely are 600ohm, also inside the cup housing behind the pads, they will have 600ohm printed along the ridge. It’s not necessarily true that >10k is 300ohm, I’ve seen 600ohms with SN over 10k.

Thanks guys, ill heck out later today and report back, cant believe how good these things sound, they give my stax 507 system a run for their money, all the more amazing for a 40 year old headphone, i have had the 600s and 650s and i do genuinely think they sound better!

Reporting back now, the serial number on the headband reads 010169 so thats above the 10k but on taking the pads off and checking on the inner outer rim it has FB 600 so iam presunming they are 600 ohm versions, are these more sought after for better sound?

That is correct, and yes they’re most certainly more sought after. Again there are 600ohm models over 10k SN, yours included.

Congrats, you got an awesome HP :)

Thanks again, been listening to these this PM on my Sony 338ESD Cd player, 12.5 kgs of late 80's mastery and its superb, this is listening to the golds only through the headphone socket on the player albeit i think the headphone socket on the Sony is good, but amping these Golds i know will push them to a new level.........I might be in the market for selling these , i get headphones use them and enjoy them for a while, appreciate their qualities but always go back to my stax and tube rig, so if anyone out there is in the market......
