Sennheiser Amperiors?

This release game they are playing is frustrating and may help me with a buying decision that would not include the Sennheiser Amperior.  The V-Moda M-100 is also coming out in July for $50 less and has the potential for sound reproduction as good, if not superior to the Amperior with far superior bass extension based on the M-100's circumaural design and 50mm drivers.

poor ole Amps ain't even out in your part of the world but you already surmise that the V-Moda's will be better & cheaper... if the M-80's are anything to go by, they've a long way to go before they can contemplate even getting close to the industry leaders, my Audio Technica ATH-ES7's absolutely buried the M-80's... just because they look good does not make them sound good... ever thought of auditioning 'Beats' ?

They are available here in Paris, France in the Apple Store both in Blue and Silver for 300€
They were not on display though, and I had no time to wait for a man in blue to be available and ask for a demo
I will certainly come back one of these evening and ask if it is possible to try them

I am looking for a closed HP with good isolation for use in the public transportation with an IPod Nano 6G (no amp)
I was interested in the standard HD25, not sure that the Amperior is worth almost twice the price of a Basic Edition HD25, but we only live once, don't we ?

By the way, the Amperior can be seen everywhere in the Metro here :

my Audio Technica ATH-ES7's absolutely buried the M-80's...

I don't see the ATH-ES7 on the Innerfidelity Wall of Fame.

I do see both the regular HD25 1-II as well as the Amperior and the V-Moda M-80.

Having lived in Paris for a short while and used the metro system daily you should really consider buying a pair of leatherette pads because while these Amperior's do isolate well, it's not quite as effective at attenuating external noise and knowing very well how noisy those trains are, it's worth giving them a shot. :)

no Audio-Technica's are mentioned, funny that seeing as they have some very impressive headphones by all accounts..... the respected 'What hi-fi' magazine awarded the the ATH-ES7 '5-stars'... their highest scoring, not that any review should be trusted... trusting your ears is the best way to suit your listening needs when buying headphones, works well for me.

they've reviewed quite a lot of headphones... looks like the haven't got round to V-Moda yet.

ps... I'm only interested in how the Amperior's are... I'll be getting mine next Monday when I go to the Apple store & hopefully they'll be a great match for my Walkman-Z1070 (nightmare trying to get cans that match the soundstage & SQ that thing puts out).

Sennheiser's web site is misleading everyone when they say it is now available through Apple.  I spoke with an Apple representative who said they are not currently available for sale in the US.  I also called Sennheiser and they told me they now won't be available in the US until JULY.

Our resident sennheiser insider said 6/12

Who am I to believe?!?!

I think the only thing we can all agree on is that sound perception/the "ideal" sound is subjective.  I initially owned Beats Solo HDs and Ludacris Soul SL300s.  I am being diplomatic when I say the sound was disappointing after listening to well, nearly ever other can in their price range.  I really enjoy the sound signature of the M-80.  If money was no object, I would purchase Ultrasone Signature Pros which, to my ears, are the best sounding headphone I ever heard.  IMO, bass is seriously lacking on most Audio Technicas.

The HP i just mentioned above Audio Technica  es10 is my most bass heavy headphone i own, out of around ten.

I'm not going to slate the V-Moda as that would be unfair... the Walkman-Z has a huge soundstage with a SQ to match and to my ears very neutral... the phones I have tested with it have all be found lacking mainly due to the fact that the phones are limiting the WM-Z, you just want more if that makes sense.

I'm more of a hi-fi guy than a head-fi type... I just want a decent pair of cans that I can enjoy without thinking 'is there more'... I was going to go for the ES10's but thought I'd try the Amp's first being £100 less... at the end of the day I just want an on-ear portable that sounds great, who it's made by doesn't really matter, it's just marrying things up with the source which is the problem.

I'm curious and skeptical as to how much of a step up these will really be to the HD25. Nonetheless I hope to audition them at the Apple Store against my HDs and M-80s for that matter, once they're released.

Well, that's your opinion, isn't it? Many reviews have also given the M-80 a favorable review. Reviews are just that - subjective, mostly.

From general consensus, it does seem like the M-80 manages to both look and sound good at the same time.

Just because Craigster thought he'd prefer the M-100 over the ES7s doesn't mean he doesn't know anything about cans. You don't actually have to ask him to audition the Beats headphones. That just sounds condescending.
