Seiun player, $150 player with monster spec. Too good to be true?

The wood makes a lot more sense visually. If they are going to have the same tiny screen, there is no point to having all that glass to shatter on the front. I think they may be able to save on material cost by having wood on the front and back, and plastic on the sides.

Looks like a new headphone there, too. How did it sound?

Tried a few units, the ProX was a shell, non working model for display.

The Pro X is the one I'd have been interested in. Glad lots of people Will get the chance to have an opinion at the same time which should democratize things somewhat. Sometimes it can only take 1 opinion on headfi and everyone follows suit whereas a reasoned judgement of an audio product is worthy of months not minutes.
Tour organisers please take note!

I think the difficult part of tours is organising the time to listen. I listen at work, and take some notes while working (which isn't perfect for productivity), but most people won't be able to do that. I think 5 days is way to short for a tour, 7 days is too short, and 10 or more days is enough for most people to really get to know the sound of the headphone. I'd love two week tour slots, but I can also see that resulting in too much lag between start of tour and start of reviews flowing in, so it's a balancing act. I think Airist Audio's tour for the Heron 5 gave a reasonable amount of time with 10 days. It insures that most people will have a few weekend days to listen.

Thanks for post, @ExpatinJapan.

So, what is the Seiun Plus?  It was not in the croudsourcing, was it?

Did they mention how the Seiun Pro is coming (X or plain)?

How did you like the sound of what you tried?

(Sorry for so many question... :-)

Seiun plus seems to be a new player, takes larger files(32/384?) than the Seiun player EX1/EX2 (24/192).
I tried it briefly, seems fine for that short time.  although i didn`t use my own micro memory card and music.

The Seiun Pro/X that I saw was just a mock up, no internals I think. Just showing the general size and design. So I couldnt listen to it of course.

I was given a Seiun EX2 and a set of their more recent IEMs to take home and review - Thanks again for those Cyberdrive.

If that is a new player, that was not an empty box like the Pro/X; then one has to wonder if resources are being fairly allocated to bringing the crowd funded player to it's backers (and the market).

This is the first real negative item I have posted on this discussion and I truly hope I am wrong.

Has anyone/everyone else gotten their Volt number for the beta tester lottery?  I've received nothing so far; looks like this may take CD a bit longer than 2 days to complete?

+1.  I worry the same way.  I hope CD can deliver what they already committed to before starting new things.

It may be that only the 'winners' get them. In which case, nobody who frequents HeadFi has gotten one. That isn't totally surprising as most of the IndieGoGo backers likely aren't on here. I was really hoping for one, but I don't think it has happened. You may be right about it taking longer than two days, though. CD seems to continue overpromising. It is something they really need to just stop doing. I don't think this player will be delivered till July, they should probably say that, and then aim to beat July. If they deliver earlier, they won't have taken the time to incorporate much of beta tester comments, which could lead to a rough launch.

NO!!!  We certainly don't want another LH Labs fiasco!  I hope someone at CD is paying attention here...

Companies shouldn't have to stand still until a product is delivered. You also need to keep your creative folks working. I wouldn't freak out over the Seiun Plus. That's just silly.

Oh, I agree completely; the Seiun Plus was probably well on its way before the Pro series was even started...  I think the confusion comes when "new" products appear that we weren't made aware of earlier.  Now if CD starts coming up with soundbars and auto audio systems and we don't see the Pro's for several more months, then maybe we can get concerned....

Agreed. I'm still thinking July is the time for the Seiun Pro and Pro X.
