Seiun player, $150 player with monster spec. Too good to be true?

I assume that most, if not all of the recent comments, refer to the Pro/ProX players. I ordered the basic Player (+ free social media Dura's) which was supposed to be sent in January. January came and went. Near the end of February, I got a reply to an email, saying that I would get my order in March. As the end of March approached, I sent another email asking if I still could expect the order in March, and If not, when? The reply said to be patient (not my spelling. They would send my Player (no mention of the Dura's), "as soon as possible".  Who know what that means? All I know is that I don't have my order, and have no idea when to expect it.

Originally, I was considering the ProX, but since it was scheduled to be sent in March, while the Player's delivery was supposed to be in January, I decided to order the Player. If I was satisfied with the Player, I would, then, have ordered the ProX. Now, that is probably not going to happen........unless the Player really blows me away (if I ever get it). Maybe CD's intentions are good, but I don't like the "runaround" that I'm getting.

If I get my order by May (best case scenario?), that will be 4 months late........for a player that was completed and tested by late December or early January. Extrapolate that for the Pro/ProX, which has not even finished the testing process, yet. What if problems are found? Supporters will be lucky to get their order, this year!  Based on my order experience, this seems to be a realistic assessment.

When did you order your player? They left the dates the same on the Forever Funding campaign, which was dumb on their part. I expect that they sold out most of their first production run, but given that they had units available at shows, this was indeed poor form. You should have your player by now. For what it's worth, I'm sorry you've been treated that way.

I checked the Cyberdrive website today and they have the Seiun player listed for sale, but the basic players are on pre-order and will be available after April 15, 2016.  I, too, am sorry you had to wait for the basic player, esp since it is listed on the webpage for sale by pre-order.  In any event, here is the link to the site if you want to let them know again you are waiting on the basic player: http://cyberdrive.audio/collections/seiun-series.  Good luck.  As regards the ProX, I figured we'd have to wait a while.  I guess we'll just have to see how long the wait turns out to be.....

I placed the order in January, and as you pointed out, the delivery date was supposed to be in January as stated in the funding campaign site. I understood when they pointed out  that the earlier supporters would get their order first. But, I think that, by now, I should have received mine, especially since their site lists the player for sale to the general public. Is that the way to treat a supporter????

Thanks for pointing out that their site has the Player for sale.......I wasn't aware of that. I did send them an email, saying that I thought that it wasn't a proper way to treat a supporter.

Pre-order is a really open ended term, so that could mean June or some other out there date for those listed on their website. They made a mistake when listing their new perks on IndieGoGo as delivering for the same dates as the originals, but you shouldn't be faulted for that and the least you deserve is clear communication on when you can expect your unit.

Best of luck!

Whenever I have seen an item for pre-order sale, it generally means that the item will be shipped at a later date. But, then typically, a date is given, i.e. next month, next year, etc.. Cyberdrive states that, "Pre-orders will be shipped after April 15th."
Personally, when I read that, my interpretation is that shipping would be after April 15th, but in that neighborhood. If they intended a much later shipping date (June, or even later), they should have made that clear. If I was running a business that's what I would do.

I don't think that Cyberdrive has any business offering their crowd funded product to the general public (pre-order, or whatever), until they have satisfied their backers.....THAT would have been proper. Another thing to consider: If they are spending time to produce The Player for the public, won't that take time away from the production and testing of their other products (Pro/ProX), holding the backers of those products hostage? Satisfy your backers, FIRST!

Yes, I agree that backers must be satisfied first! I am so sick of their BS that I will cancel my order if I can. I have no desire to do business with people that conduct themselves in this unprofessional manner. I refuse to support companies that have such disregard for their backers. My 2c worth.

Hey, for what's it worth, if you have access to Fry's Electronics stores in the US and you are looking for a 200 gb microSDXC card, then they have one for $69.99 (usual price is $99.99).  Here is the link: http://www.frys.com/product/8770981?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

News on 4-12-16

Dear backers,

Thanks for the supporting & patience on this campaign. We understand that some customers are really excited to be our beta testers. Having 1,000 backers on the test volunteer registration, the team will finalize the listing very soon. Cyberdrive appreciates to have you on each steps, without you, we can not make to this stage.

We always keep in mind that to provide the best quality is our priority. To make products perfect, the team needs to test all features carefully on both software & hardware sides. We are sorry that we have to postpone the original delivery schedule on Pro /Pro X/ PHA products. Here are the summary from the team:

  1. Power Saving Management: Our expectations on off-screen playing needs to work 8 -10 hours & with screen playing for 4 hours. The performance of power saving management, some extra testing is needed to achieve our goal.
  2. Power Heating Management: The team experienced the heating features, but still requires minor alterations to accomplish our desired purpose.
  3. Audio management: To enhance quality with a reasonable price is our mission. The team still works on the best solution for the greatest audio quality because joyful and high quality provided is a must to our customers.
  4. Tooling schedule: Many of our tolling suppliers are currently located in China. Due to a long vacation on Chinese New Year this year, a lot of tooling schedules were completed later than we expected. Some delays also affect other schedules to cause the final delivery delay.

In reviewing the above progress for the project, we sincerely apologize that we have to put off our regular delivery of Pro/ Pro X/ PHA to the end of MayThe beta testing delivery schedule will be in late April & early May and the testers list will be announced in 2 weeks. We also try our best to minimize the delay as much as possible to reduce your concerns. Each of you are our best supportive and loyal customer since the project started, and we are grateful to you for your commitment towards us. As a small token of honor and as a mark of apology, we offer 1 Feather DAC to each backer who has his or her Pro/ Pro X / PHA packages (will be packed in the same packages.)

To ensure that this crisis does not take place in the future again, we have taken all precautionary steps. Once again we apologize to you for all the inconvenience caused because of us. We would appreciate your support on this matter. Thank you very much again!

Sincerely,

-The Cyberdrive Team

Thank goodness we've gone away from the usual "it's a scam we're not going to get anything". Now all we have to contend with is the bad feeling generated by a slippage in the production of an item that was in development throughout the Indiegogo campaign.
These things take time and skill, if they're rushed they'll be a waste of money because they won't be as good as good as they could be. Given this obvious fact ; who out there would like the Pro and Pro X to be rushed into production? Please step forward.....

I think a revised date and explanation was all most of us were hoping for. The product will take as long as it takes, but the communication is something that can be dealt with.

Hopefully they will keep this in mind if the schedule slips again and just let everyone know, rather than sticking blindly to a date they knew wasn't going to be hit and hoping no one would complain.

Personally, I'm happy to wait as long as I need to if it means getting a better product, just as long as someone lets me know periodically how much longer I will be waiting.

Roll on June! ;)
