Seiun player, $150 player with monster spec. Too good to be true?

Companies shouldn't have to stand still until a product is delivered. You also need to keep your creative folks working. I wouldn't freak out over the Seiun Plus. That's just silly.

Oh, I agree completely; the Seiun Plus was probably well on its way before the Pro series was even started...  I think the confusion comes when "new" products appear that we weren't made aware of earlier.  Now if CD starts coming up with soundbars and auto audio systems and we don't see the Pro's for several more months, then maybe we can get concerned....

Agreed. I'm still thinking July is the time for the Seiun Pro and Pro X.

No one is talking about "standing still".... just finishing stuff before starting new projects.  Completion of projects take a huge, focused effort.

Actually, saying they can't start new projects before finishing old ones is precisely saying that at least some people should be standing still. There are always folks in a company that aren't directly working on the current stage of a product. Should all the designers just go home now that the product is fully designed? While all hands on deck for one project sounds heroic, it isn't realistic for the whole product cycle, and doesn't fit many working styles.

I'd hate my job if I only got to work on one thing at a time.

The question is, how big is the company? If its large enough, with enough employees, so that some can be assigned to other projects without impacting the primary one, negatively............fine. But, if the company has a limited workforce so that if a worker is assigned to a different project, he/she has to be removed from another, first.........this is not fine. A project, in this situation, is started at the expense of finishing another.

In crowdfunding, the primary concern should be to satisfy the backers FIRST. If other projects are started, causing a delay in providing its backers with what they were promised, that company does not have its priorities straight. It is clouded by visions of more income, and backers can be put on the back burner, since the company already has their money.

Workers not happy working on one job is immaterial. If a company makes a promise to its backers, that promise should be fulfilled first, above all else. Then, if it wants to branch out and allow its workers the "happiness" to work on different projects .....at that point, they should feel free to go right ahead, and do whatever they want........again, as long as the backers have already been satisfied.

In my original comment I was mainly concerned that a new player (that I had not seen before, but may have been in progress before the Pro - making this next bit irrelevant) was a working player, when the crowdfunded prototype was an empty box!

I understand the various teams at work but if the Pro lacked hardware, and the Plus had hardware and was functional, then there has been some crossover somewhere I would think.

Anyway, back to the positive.... Any one heard on the award of Beta units?

I agree with this 100% however, I fear that we will see a delayed(again) delivery due to commitments to other projects before finishing the funded project. This is becoming an all-too-familiar practice with crowd funding and is unethical, in my opinion. I am not saying that this is the case here but if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck........Just my2c worth.
