I think we've found @OldRoadToad 's nirvana.

I regularly visit the Centre of the ORTish Audio Universe via this and other photos posted here as a sort of Hejira. The pinnacle being the 4 VU Meters known far and wide to ORTwellians as the “Four Windows of Wonder”. In truth, it is a beautiful setup that I admire very much.

I recently had the opportunity to have an ounce of one of the Suntory Essence experimental bottlings (Vol. 3, malt aged for 12 years in white oak and finished for an additional 6 years in Japanese Cedar). Astonishing.
😍 🫠

Hakushu 12-Year has been my favorite j-malt so far. My local shop used to get it in occasionally but it pretty much doesn't exist in Oregon anymore.

I absolutely do not have one, I have several. Solid cherry with copper supports. This is my main system.IMG_6810.jpegIMG_6070.jpeg
Finnegan adds at least 10k to the value of that system.

Hopefully, not in vet bills.
A friend and former coworker has two Whippets and those two dogs cost him $hundreds to $thousands every year - they're either hurting themselves or eating costly remotes / furniture / what have you.

I've been experimenting and rolling tubes ... are my clear favourites. I snapped up another pair just this week. Very close are some ... in the early-mid 1960's, mid-1950's ..., early 1960's ...
What makes particular tubes "a favorite"?

I'm foreign to the whole tube rolling phenomenon and rather view myself as the street urchin trying to divine what the diners in the fancy restaurant are enjoying. (hst, I'm not tube-curious more tube-cognoscenti-curious; that is, I'm curious about what the tube lovers love, rather than the tubes themselves).

When I lived in Manhattan it drove me crazy to see morons with whippets and greyhounds and such in the city.
