Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

LOL! That's not exactly how I remember it. The rainbow poplar amp was quite beautiful itself. Yes, I like the tiger maple one better, but the first one didn't need to make any excuses. I think when I suggested tiger maple for Version 2, you said you'd make it out of cardboard 'cause that's all I deserved (which is probably true ).

I seriously did try to make the first amp cabinet out of tiger maple but it was an inch thick and allowed little space on the inside. 🤪 Normally 42 inches of 3/4 hardwood works but those were normal amps for normal people.🙄

Here is a photo of the original cabinet, I could have made it work if the pots and jacks were on each end, but no yours had to be on the sides.🤣

We were one of the earliest absinthe producers in the U.S. not long after it was made legal again, which I think was 2005 or 2008?

If anyone is up for a bit of an exploration, absinthe has some of the most fascinating history of all the spirits, especially against the almighty wine industry - lots of rivalry in France that ultimately spread into and influenced the temperance movement in the U.S.

Edit: Our absinthe is available at Total Wine.
It was used as a love potion in earlier days: Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder....

I'll close the door behind me.

Thanks for sharing the pics!

While beauty is always in the eyes of the beholder, that yellow amp looks like it belongs in a kid's playroom. The 450F surface temps on the 845 (or 211) tubes could be an issue, but it depends on how much you like your kids. 🤣 🤣

They claim it is the same as car paint, while it will not burn and can stands for 170 degrees celcius, but whether the color will change after a long term running heat close to it, no one knows ...... (Ferrari Gelb)

That would surely be of concern to me.

People voice concern at times about the temps on some Schiit gear, but even Folkvangr would seem like a refrigerator next to a quad of 845's burning brightly.

Just got a mental image of a hamster stuck in there. Maybe a small Guinea pig grilled to perfection. They're supposed to be tasty....... geez I need more coffee before I head back over there.

Seriously it's a real nice fun show that you can't see in a day. Three days for $35.00 and the wife gets in for free.

Moon Audio always has a bizillion headphones out to play with. I'm heading there this afternoon. In fact Focal had all their phones on display in an adjoining room all hooked to Naim amps. But they were demoing Scala Utopias or one of those models on the other side of the door. LOL.

Well, at least you can look, feel and try on and have a congenial time. :)

Seeing those, I gotta say:
Sound and price aside, people don't appreciate enough just how timeless Schiit's designs are…

Jason said before, the chassis is the most expensive item to build, but it contributes nothing to the sound, and it doesn't make any sound at all.

Wow, what a universe! The VAC stuff is dynamite. I would love our Schiity universe to come out with some tube monoblocks or even a nice single ended amp to mate with the Freya.

If so, hoarding of tubes will start a new page ..... :L3000:

What’s the advantage of Total Wine? There are a couple in Denver area but I haven’t been to one.
Huge selection and great prices, in general... they do a lot of coupons and specials. Here in NorCal we've had Beverages and More (a.k.a. BevMo!) as our major liquor reseller for a long while, but they have become less and less competitive against the Safeways and Costcos of the world... Total Wine (if they can keep up their low price strategy) might put BevMo out of business. It's totally worth a trip to Total Wine <G>. Wine aside, their beer and whisk(e)y selection will blow you away.
