Previously MOT: Cables For Less
The La Scala's are on my bucket list but realistically I would have to trade houses first. Thanks for the photos!

If you're going to get a new house just for speakers might as well jump up to the Klipschorns
Thanks for all the pics! Audio gear porn is my 2nd favorite kind.
Loved seeing those gorgeous GEC KT-66's in the Quad amp, and been a while since I've seen an 845 tube in full glow. But what really caught my eye was the very last pic. A couple 300B's, a volume control and source selector indicating it's an integrated, AND a headphone jack. Of course coming from Japan, it's quite likely in the "if you have to ask" price range...
Hideous. IMO.If you saw John Darko's just-posted video from the Warsaw Audio show, this has to be one of the most imposing pieces of kit, visually-speaking. Those tubes are about the size of large kittens!
.
I dunno.... RCA 833 (and the Russian & European versions) DH triodes are pretty impressive to look at. 100 watts on the filament, big round pins - two on top, two on the bottom to hold it in place. A pair in class B modulator service could dish out 2.7KW of audio into the RF amplifier of an old school AM radio transmitter. Yeah, I could see building a SE triode amplifier around these. Though it's a level of insanity that I no longer aspire to....Hideous. IMO.
Yea it's a taste thing. I would not have that amp in my house no matter what it sounded like.I dunno.... Here's Darko's report:
But other interesting stuff he remarks upon throughout the show.

833's do seem slightly excessive for a headphone amp, though, unless you have a really, really big head. Still...
Agreed! That's why my last DIY tube headphone amp only used 6528s and 6BX7s.
In the USD $4-5k range (or less if you look). Its the Triode TRV-A300XR
