Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

My gal's washer died and I did a cursory bit of research. Apparently Speed Queen is the brand for longevity and reliability. I couldn't find a dealer in Calgary though...
.
Tried to buy Speed Queen during the Pandemic and there was a 10 week lead time on them. I could not wait that long and ended up with Whirlpool

Clarity caps are great! The CMR series is excellent. Don’t use ESA / CSA for tweeters or full range. Their top end drops off quickly making high frequencies sound muted. But they’re fine for mids and woofers.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one to notice that about ESA/CSA caps...! I used them on the dome midrange, on my AR58S speakers, and lost all/much of the upper midrange/lower treble. It made spoken word voices very hard to understand. I added F&F bypass caps to them, and that helped make the issue much less noticeable. I'll recap them with Mundorf Supremes one day...! 🤔

I'm slowly working on a pair of Martin Logan electrostatics. Stock speakers used a mix of Mylar and electrolytic caps. I'm replacing those with Mundorf Supreme EVO OIl and ClarityCap CSA parts. I hope those 2 brands together blend without the Clarity suck out...?

You can't make posts like this unless you are sending out invitations!
LOL ok you will be invited next time, I will give you a half hour to get here. I accepted quite a bit of fine bourbon for my builds but finally said smoked salmon is a good way to thank me. Turns out the gentleman I said that to had lived in Alaska and knows his salmon lol. He sent some wonderful SeaBear salmon that is generally my first choice.

Save a TON of money...

Get a 2C51 Bendix from:
$25 + $8 Shipping.
I have several 396a's and this Bendix made came this week and honestly you cant tell the
difference unless you have "bat" ears...

Alex

I hesitate to post this, but @adydula is absolutely right about these tubes! They are an amazing value and sound fantastic in Mjolnir 2! After putting them into Mjolnir 2 with adapters, it was hard to pull myself away from the music for close to 3 hours.

(In the interest of honesty, I just placed an order for 5 more Bendix tubes , for other Schiit gear and to have some back ups before tube hoarders make a run on these tubes 🤣)

The NPE's for the hi-pass section are by-passed with Audyn Q4 series films. A film cap for that section would be the size of a beer can or two...not practical IMHO.
The NPE cap in the 125hz, 12db/octave Bessel lo-pass section is fine, again IMHO.
It all sounds superb, BTW.
The Spica TC-60's crossovers are stock, un-modified.

I think Speed Queen makes a lot of commercial washers / dryers for laundromats in the US. They must be quite solid.

Wow, the port is tuned for 29Hz!

I would love to hear a pair of these in my room.

A lot of ported speakers are tuned for 45Hz. My room has a double mode at 45Hz, which makes the 45Hz ported speakers sound like bad disco regardless of speaker placement.

Though 4dB less gain and less watts than the Vidar, my Aegir 1 still makes my Dali Opticon 1 MK2 shines, my Vidar 2 is collecting dust since the Aegir 1 entered the house 2 months ago.
My office system is now PC/Qobuz -> OG Yggy -> MJ3 -> stereo OG Aegir -> DALI Oberon On-walls and it simply sounds amazing. The second Aegir from the old monoblock config went to my buddy Nick's place in Ann Arbor. He's happy, and so am I. OG Aegir is the best price performance amp on the planet IMHO.

BLACKSTAR IS BOWIE'S FINEST ALBUM

Definitely saved his best art for the last.
OMG, yes. So lush and big and musical; the mix is stunning. Definite HP material, but is sounds great on loudspeakers, too. <g>

p.s. - the freakin' lyrics of Lazarus... wow.

My brother has some kind of motion sensing bidet-self cleaning toilet seat thing installed in his bathrooms. There is something rather disturbing about a toilet that starts drooling as you approach it.
ROTFLMAO, again... thanks guys... much appreciated!

Personally, I love 'em. I thought they'd be the perfect candidate for air frying. Sigh. Not even close. They disintegrated the moment I tried to shake them to stir them up. Of course still edible. Just a pile of potato bits now. They'd be a good starter for hash browns though. I'll stick with Ore-Ida Fast Food Fries from now on.
My Ore-Ida Crinkle-cut French Fry consumption went up by a factor of 10 when I got an air fryer. Soooo bad for me, and then add catsup and mayo and yikes.

But, so good. Life is full of trade-offs, slightly higher cholesterol vs. crunchy hot fries... easy choice.
