Might I suggest you ease your way back into crunchy tater goodness by way of tater crowns.
You won't have terrifying flash backs as you see them exit the bag if you think of a game of checkers. Because of their size the crunch ratio is vastly superior!

Turns out the gentleman I said that to had lived in Alaska and knows his salmon lol. He sent some wonderful SeaBear salmon that is generally my first choice.
