Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

My CD player in my main cabinet is my old "fat" PS3 which had/has an excellent CD/Blu-Ray player for its time. I'm still debating whether or not to get an Urd or some-such to update. It's surprising Art isn't there. Did he tick somebody off at the label and they held a grudge for decades?
Lol I have no idea. The main collection is rock and roll with some jazz and very little classical. There is also folk and bluegrass etc. The collection goes from 1930’s till 2006 I believe.

Being a glorious day here I am finishing shelves for an audio rack. 31F8C747-9387-4256-87B0-CA44614AAC2D.jpeg

I know that they are probably easier (or at least cheaper) to source and also likely make things a little easier to assemble, but…

The one thing that bugs me a tiny little bit about Folkvangr is the power switch. Even after a few months of use, I still find it a little "difficult" to locate it. Not actually difficult, of course, but it's just not the same effortless ease with which I always immediately find the old flip/toggle switches. In theory, the new integrated rocker switch should be easier to find because it's closer to the edge of the device AND immediately above the power cable, serving as a "landmark" of sorts for your grabby little fingers. But with the old toggle switches, I somehow never have to look, or even think. I just find them. Blindly. Immediately. And every single time.
The toggle switches also feel a lot more satisfying to use, what with their nice metallic *chonk* and all.

Seems like most newer Schiit gear (with internal transformers) might be getting that new rocker switch assembly. Tyr has it (although it doesn't bother me there since I never switch mine off), and based on the drawing Jason posted the other day, Urd seems to be getting them, too. Of the newer stuff, only Lyr still retained the old toggle switch. Maybe so Schiit could continue to use the same bottom chassis, I guess. Or because that newer power-socket-with-integrated-fuse-and-power-switch assembly is a little deeper and would not fit behind those two chunky transformers in Lyr? No idea.

Just to be clear: This isn't meant as a complaint by any means. It's just something I noticed. The new switches are completely fine. No reason to complain. My brain just seems to prefer the old ones a little more for no good reason.

I dunno… These new switches are just so… …so normal. …so mundane. …so consumer electronics like. …so completely unlike Schiit! 😅
The new switch with integrated fuse assembly make it easier to upgrade your fuses. :smiley_cat:

LOL Tidal has volumes 3,5, and 6.

I will look for the set later, I need to get busy in my shop; that is a set I do want to own.

That's not maple, but it's very pretty. Hopefully won't degrade the sonics too much. 🤣

One can only hope. How about if I pretend to agree with you so you can get back to tending your still ??

This is cherry of course right after I applied the first layer of finish. I hope to have this rack done tomorrow if all goes well. This one may hold my Cary, turntable, and Freya +.

Oh and a Cary phono pre-amp that some kind hearted North Carolinian/Georgian lent me.😀 I hope I can find all the pieces.

IIRC, it's only one piece. Or at least was. Pre-Finnegan. 🤣

There appear to be tube sockets, I will huddle up with Finnegan and we will figure this out.😁 He has outgrown the tube breaking phase, so far today anyway. Tube cages help.

Will do.🤪 After you diagnose the Superamp this should be child’s play.

I know that's a Tri-Pacer but engine looks a bit larger than stock. O/IO-360?
Tri-gear better on snow than taildragger?
I've never flown off snow, looks to be great fun!
Roy, just a standard 160hp late model pa22 but on skis I can use the Borer 82" prop.

And yes the three skis are a plus, she stays on top and turns on a dime where we all have to get out and wiggle a super cub around getting blasted with snow etc. Fun times for sure and like we say, living the dream!

Spent 12 days climbing "Little Switzerland" surrounding Pika - was a blast! Wondering if we've met........

Hay Murry, names seems familure... QW live right here on D street next to the village strip and my partner runs the Roadhouse if that rings a belll?

Last time I landed the Pika I almost left here there, the snow was just too deep ,took full power to make my turn at the top, knew bin then I didn't dare stop, powered around my keyhole turn, and dropping my nose ski into the one otter track that had been there dropping by buddies off the day before used it all and a touch more to get out of the pow... Haven't gone back to the Pika sense. Its stunning for sure...

Shelves are adjustable to maintain level all the way to the turntable. Padded disks of sorbothane and felt allow the rack to slide on a tiled floor. (Maybe not actual sorbothane 🤪. )

My black, 10# mini Schnauzer does that on the black carpeting on the painted black stairs. One of these days he's going to get stepped on.

What a lovely dog!
We have owned a Schnauzer.
She was a beautiful dog.
Sadly, she didn’t have a long life but she brought joy to everyone she came in contact with.
