Didn't Sennheiser say in an interview that they were going to go down the route of earbuds and whatnot towards the mass market? Pretty sure their days chasing the high end are over. This announcement didn't surprise me at all.
These models might be their cash cows, but this is Head-Fi where we are interested in sound quality and not profitability. Sennheiser, please don't tease us, if you don't care about us.
I understand why they are making these products but am still left dumbfounded by their way of going about it.
Why ask for feedback that you're going to ignore?
Why post hype about consumer products on an audiophile forum?
It feels very disingenuous and is a really bad look for the company. From where I sit, this all seems like Sennheiser not knowing their audience, or trying to find a new audience while pretending to still have their old one.
Postscript: buy yourselves an HD600, HD650, or HD660S2 - or any combination. They are destined to become collectors' items. Plus, you can (carefully) enjoy them in the meantime.
they have given up hifi, that's what. At most they make some decent mid-fi, but from my experience they have been stuck with their HD800 for so long that it's now a meme. And maybe my ears are strange, or i don't "get them", but i tried the HD800 and i wouldn't buy them at a 50% discount, let alone full price. They are a shadow of a shadow from an era when they WERE the high end, left behind by a market that evolved a LOT.
I feel like im playing on my xbox 360 during call of duty days, except instead of being roasted by older players its a stream of a professional audio company who is running one of the worst streams ive ever seen.
Everyone’s missing the point. Apples line of TWS made more revenue in 2023 than Nvadia. There is a boatload of money to be made in Wireless in ears. By far the hottest audio tech, nothing comes close.
Good for Sennheiser
