Yes, it is.

Could you please elaborate on this? I've noticed neutron
has an option of 32/64 bit processing. I understood that
if using p2 out, it'll be 16 bits? Other words, neutron's
option is pointless at the end?

I second that.

I've used poweramp a lot, and the interface is really better than neutron.

Problem is, neutron's audio treatment is really second to none. Set parametric
values to your taste, define your equalizer flavor, bind your eq and normalize,
and you could listen to all your phone music files with great sq efortlessly.

Yep, lots of people like the SQ better out of Neutron. Providing you can live with the UI I would say it is the one to go with if you are not using USB audio.

Any updates on Voodoo for the Galaxy S3?

I would still like to get this phone, but not until Voodoo is out. Surprised it's taking so long. I've been trying to look for updates or info on it, but nothing recent.

Nope, no updates. Moral of the story: don't wait for Voodoo Sound to buy a new phone and be happy with sound.

Hi NZTechfreak,

I've found this about asus xonar essence one, but not a full review.

I've noticed you have one, could you comment a bit about it,
mainly what is the overall upstep over onboard dac?
Other words, is it worth? Super worth? A must have?

How would it compare against Galaxy S3 SQ,
supposing there is some room for comparison?

Thanks,

I actually don't have the Xonar anymore, sold it when I upgraded to the Audio-GD Reference 10.

The Xonar really is a nice unit, certainly better than the sound quality from the Galaxy S3. For the money I think the Xonar is a very worthwhile proposition, and it'll drive most headphones well. It's not up to driving say the HE-6 or HD800, but for most headphones it's good. It will almost certainly be a pretty big step up from whatever onboard DAC your PC has (unless it already has one of the good ASUS ones in it).

I have the Galaxy S1 and the stock music player doesn't play ALAC...so I assume the S3 would be the same. Poweramp does play ALAC.

Tested and confirmed native samsung music player to not play alac (16 bits 938kbps 44.1kHz) song file.
Poweramp played ok.
Neutron player played ok.

Galaxy S3 (see signature).

Thanks for that,

I will probably just load it up with 320 kbps files. To be honest, I cannot tell the difference, even on my home system.

I am hoping that the volume is sufficient with UM Miracles. Is it worthwhile getting volume + or volume booster for S3, as i sometimes use W3 or Phonak 122 IEM's.

Is there any hope of getting Voodoo sound for this device in the foreseeable future ?

It's to be announced, but with no ETA by Supercurio...  There is hope then...

I'm trying my best to notice some difference too, but no success. They're all the same to me till now. Sigh.

After using Neutron for two months, I recommend Gonemad music player: Same SQ than Neutron (with better gapless) and much better UI.

Never heard of it, looks interesting... Do you feel it controls distortion well too?
