So far so good. Everything works as it should and sounds fantastic. In the process of A/B testing the SU-8 and SU-9 at the moment. Big difference in micro details between the two. Picking up a lot of little details on the SU-9 vs the SU-8 that come through slightly dull. Very curious how the SH-9 will do with both the DACs.

Agreed about micro details. I hear SU9 as being overall more linear and closer to neutral with a very slight warm-ish tilt. Su8 v2 was a little too warm and thick for my taste, I felt like it was non-fatiguing but missing some detail in the process - especially when having more revealing system components - speakers, headphones, amps, etc. Su8 v2 also had some glitches / dropouts when switching bitrates and source inputs that irked me somewhat. Glad they fixed the software w su9.

Hi Folks
I have recently purchased the full stack, SU9/SH9 and I am pleased with it so far, especially by the SU9

I only wish the DAC display was configurable by the user, I don’t care about that giant volume level indicator...
Moreover, I am using the USB input and it is hard to remove the cable, it gets almost “locked” in the USB socket. Anyone experienced the same issue?

I haven't had any issues with removing or inserting a usb cable. I've been doing A/B tests lately so I've been constantly plugging and un plugging the usb cables. I also haven't tried the stock usb cable included since I have personal go to "upgraded snake oil" usb cables for testing my gear. I'll test the stock cable when I get home later and report back if it seems stiff to plug in or unplug.

Can you mind change another USB cable. This may be the USB cable you are using now does not match well.

Mine is a little harder to plug/unplug also but I see it as just being brand new and a tighter grip. If I was worried about it breaking due to the force and frequency of use I wouldn't hesitate to get a suitable usb hub to negate having to tamper with it at all. Best way to clean up a mess is not to make one at all....

thanks for your suggestion, but I'd rather ask for a replacement of the DAC itself, because this issue is occurring with different cables including the stock one. Therefore I think it is related to the USB socket on my unit.

Sounds like a replacement is the way for you to go as you’ll always be wondering and worried. You paid a good amount for a good device, may as well get it right!

Hi,

I finally got this amazing device, it's brilliant, my old sound system has come back to life. I have no complaints so far, although the USB input is not very reliable (as others stated before), I think it's a design flaw.

That being said, I'd like to show the bit depth of the source along with the sample rate on the OSD. How can I achieve that?
If this is not possible with the current firmware, how could I get in touch with SMSL in order to pass this suggestion on to them?

@shenzhenaudio please reply
Thanks in advance

Thanks for your reply. What's the reason? Not enough people are interested in this petition? On the other hand, I think it's not hard to implement this, it's just an additional information on the display and other customers are likely to appreciate it.

Looks like my wireworld Starlight USB cable is stuck inside SU-9. It's almost as if there are spring latches inside the female end of the USB port, as there is no way I can extract the cable. Man this SUCKS, how hard is it to source a quality standard USB jack, at the least.
Does anyone know of a USB release tool? I think I am done with SMSL products lol.
