As the title says, I'm choosing one of these amps to use mainly with IEMs.
I'm quite familiar with RSA sound and I really enjoyed my RSA Mustang and RSA Protector.
I have also read Skylab's reviews of the original SR-71 and the Stepdance, the last being better to his ears.
Really don't know what to choose, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you are mainly use the amp with iem, then you should just stay with Mustang or Protector or the Pico Slim is a good choice also.  Though sounding good, Stepdance and SR71a are much bigger amps for bigger phones.

I use my Stepdance with UE triple.fi10's and love the sound, The Stepdance makes the UE's sound more like full size phones, in fact similar to my Denon D5000's.

Remember as well that the price of the Stepdance includes shipping! Either way you won't go wrong whichever you choose, both designers have great integrity when it comes to build and sound quality I feel.

I own both. I prefer Stepdance for my LCD2 but the SR71A for my IEMs.

Not a good match. I have to turn my HM801 pretty much to the max volume to drive the LCD2 at normal listening volume. The HM801 also has a "dark" sound signature and the mid is a bit too much for the LCD2 which is already good at mids. With the Stepdance the sound of the LCD2 is cleaner while the signature mid range creaminess is maintained.

I assume you use CLAS as the source with those amps.
How about HM-801>LCD2?

Hey guys, does the Stepdance have enough juice to drive HD650/HD600/DT880-600/250? I'd be using them with my DIYmod. I already have a P-51 but I'm under the impression it can't drive those cans with authority.
Does anyone think this setup is good or a DAC+AMP/desktop setup would be better?

Kayser, which 'phones are you using?

In the end I bought an SR-71A to use with different IEMS.
No hiss, no channel imbalance with any of high-sensitive earphones.
I should say that this amp is a perfect match with Westone 4.

same here googleli
HM801 + LCD2 is not a good match. Too boomy bass ,much too dark sounding ( my amp module is stock amp module) and HM801 with stock amp module can not drive LCD2 properly.
