Let me add, that my daily driver headphone is the ZMF Verite. The RH-5 easily drives the Verite and allows it to be all it can be! With the RH-5 the Verite has a massive soundstage. I've settled on a pair of Adzam- Special Quality-12AU7's that have that old vintage European Hi-Fi sound I love. Clean airy top-end, medium level warmth in the mids and a deep extended bass. Tube rolling with the RH-5 has been lots of fun!

Rh5 doesn't work well with highly-sensitive cans. I mean rh5 can still make the headphones sound good but you will hear big background noises. Rh5 technically can drive any type of headphones but actually it looks like it was mainly designed for low-impedance low-sensitive planar cans, name a few, abyss 1266 or audeze lcd's.I’m guessing this wouldn’t work well for a Kennerton Gjallarhorn JM which is 33OHM but 116db efficient. I am looking for a amp that does a decent job with it and my Verite and Thekk. I think the Pathos Aurium is a good bet because of the variable gain....just wondered if you guys had a opinion of the Rogue with the Gjallarhorn.

The RH-5 is absolutely quiet. I've ran a variety of headphones both dynamic and planar, low efficiency to high efficiency, low impedance to high impedance 300 ohms. No issues what so ever.
It's easy to match headphones and on the RH-5 as it has three levels of gain. So you know you always have as much power on tap as you need.

Hello
Has anyone paired the Meze Empyrean with the RH5? I heard folks talking about hearing a hissing noise with low impedance HP like the LCDX. I believe the ME have an impedance of 32. Thanks

The RH-5 has no issues with noise regardless of impedance of headphones. It's 3 gain stages allow the user to match gain level to impedance.
Thanks for your response. I remembered reading someone having a hiss using an IEM with a high sensitivity in a review. But I have not read anything else along these lines except for the person here who had an issue with the LCD-X.

Here are a few pictures I took the last time I had the RH-5 opened to roll tubes.
Note, the high quality Solen capacitors. These are made in France and not cheap. Also note the made in Japan, Nichicon capacitors. Also very high quality.
Look at the toroidal transformers. Rogue adds two! One for the headphone section and one for the line stage. Don't forget the RH-5 is an extraordinary line stage pre-amp. Also the PCB contains double the amount of copper that you'd expect. All very very high quality parts.

I know it is never "done" but have you settled on a tube that particularly suits you? Here are a few pictures I took the last time I had the RH-5 opened to roll tubes.

I'm really happy with a pair of Adzam (Mazda) 12AU7WA 6189 Special Quality from the early 1960's (made in Belgium). They have a dynamic sound up and down the frequency spectrum with the most beautiful and airy highs that I've ever heard.

I have also tried some and together with Final D8000, Mullard tubes is lush and great. Tried Cifte from France 1962 edition. They are extremely detailed and dynamic but over time I felt they where almost to much in the long run...Every tube has there own signature so as always the most satisfying result are when amp, phones, cables works in synergi, which can take some time to find out, but it’s a fun trip!I know it is never "done" but have you settled on a tube that particularly suits you?
Well I made my decision and decided on the Rogue over the Pathos. I will have it Monday. Looking forward to it and joining the discussion here. Thanks for the input here which helped me decide!
PS if anyone is looking to sell any 12au7s for rolling hit me up as they work in my Primaluna as well!

I just picked up a set of Hifiman Susvara. I plan to use them with my Schiit Audio Yggdrasil dac. I have a ALo Studio Six tube amplifier but I don't think it has enough power to bring out the best in those headphones. Rogue Audio RH-5 vs Schiit Audio Ragnarok? Feedback appreciatedThe RH-5 is absolutely quiet. I've ran a variety of headphones both dynamic and planar, low efficiency to high efficiency, low impedance to high impedance 300 ohms.
