They're inexpensive, I bought 3.

Well it wasn't really about the money, it was more a matter of understanding exactly what was being mentioned as a good sounding option.

The part number is AD843JN, correct? The issue is finding them in stock. Octopart shows everybody is out of stock.

I'd like to know the part # as well, there seem to be three 8-DIP versions of the AD843 on digikey's site...

I've been looking at these..... both the following should be fine and are in-stock:
AD843JNZ-ND
AD843KNZ-ND

If you look at the data sheet, the KZ is the higher spec version. I doubt anybody could hear the difference.

Hi Beefy

What do you have in your triple M now?

AD8610.

I bought some eBay OPA627 but I'm not convinced that they aren't fakes so I never bothered with them for long. I'm sure they're fine but I can't be bothered worrying about the silly little risks like DC offset, oscillations etc. and would prefer to just listen to the music.

But I have heard very good things about AD843 in this amp, and am interested in trying them.

I just got my rockhopper m^3 with steps and ad843 in the mail. Very nice amp, this will hold me over nicely until my blue hawaii is repaired. Almost makes me not miss my old balanced m3.

I honestly don't see the point.

If you specifically want a discrete design, then buy something that was built from the ground-up to be discrete.
